Is this the best look at Mr. Crunch so far?

One of the splash pages for the Leatherman site. As far as I recall this is the best look at the Mr. Crunch multi we've seen so far.

Can you say "sprint run."

His indecision between blunt nose and needle nose pliers could perhaps in fact be the most notable point of Multitools available today!

I love that he called it "Mr. Crunch" - it sounds like a villain in a Noddy playset!

That is a pretty good pic of it! Can't say that i've ever seen a real pic of it, seen the patent drawings before but never a real life shot, good find!

It does look a little gussied up for the photo. Perhaps we need a multitool paparazzi to capture some candid shots of Mr. Crunch looking old and haggard whilst smoking around children.

I just checked it out, seems to be a different variation since it has rivets instead of bolts. Supra doesn't post much anymore but maybe he can regale us with some more pictures.

That is a great pic. I love stuff that looks way overbuilt. I take it these were never offered for sale?

I'm pretty certain the pictures he has posted were taken by our own Neither Extreme while visiting the Leatherman factory.

Me too. A lot of other multi-tools look strong but also have a graceful sporty look, maybe like a deluxe Hummer or a BMW SUV, that's cool but this looks like a 5 ton truck. No frills, just pure function.

I don't know about "revolution", I have yet to see a Multi on every belt, in every car, on every boat, and in every kitchen drawer.

I see a buttload in my part of the world. I rarely see a SAK except for the occasional Classic on the keyring but you see lots of guys wearing multi-tool sheaths. Mostly Leatherman and Gerber from what I see. But I do live in a (kinda)small town in the Ozarks so I'm sure a lot of them are farmers and/or ranchers. When I go up to the big city north of me(Springfield MO) I see a lot of the younger guys wearing "tactical" knives.

I found the original photo used in the shot Spoonrobot posted. (Caution, this thing is huge!) Lots of exquisite detail though.

Do some of those tools look like they were pulled out of other tools (SAK or other slippies)? The scissors and Knife look more finished & polished than the rest to me...

Those dual purpose blunt nose/needlenose pliers are a fantastic concept - in theory - but look like they would be pretty fragile in real life.  :-\

Yeah, I think it's brilliant. I could see lots of warranty returns by abuse on those needle nose. :o Not to mention the production nightmare I would expect them to be...

Look at the other photos on the LM page.  You can really see how he worked with existing tools & borrowed parts for his protos.  That explains a lot with the PST & even with some of his later tools.

If I recall from the patent literature, another Mr Crunch feature was the needlenose top-jaws; they stay parallel as they open and close. Kinda like the old Bernard or Sargent pliers did.

That's one of the things I think would be so neat... Parallel needlenose would be nice at times. And to be able to switch to regular pliars whenever you want would make it great. :multi:
