Biggest SAK
on: December 12, 2011, 07:40:32 AM
When I was in Manila about a month ago I went to Wenger store at Mega Mall. On display there is this SAK in the cell phone cam pic below. The price is 52,000.00 Philippine Pesos or an equivalent to 1,200.00 USD.

For curiosity sake I'll check again at Wenger store in Feb 2012 when I will be in Manila again to see if it is still there or a rich guy have bought it.

Wenger doesn't make a belt holster for it, but they do make a backpack.  ::)

You could screw it in, invert it, sit the SAK on the floor, put both feet foot either side of the bottle on the SAK and ... Ohhh .... can someone fetch a mop ....

Not trying to ruffle some feathers here: IMHO, it is a waste of money.  Totally impractical.

I would rather buy guns (and that thing costs more than the NIB Colt Delta Elite 10mm Auto pistol I bought 10 days ago, my return from Mesopotamia gift to me) than waste it on a massively overgrown paperweight.   Swiss Champ is almost too big for me.  I would consider an XAVT, but you can't really use it.  In fact, sold as a conversation piece and marketed as such by Victorinox.  Same for Work Champ XL.  I just can't bring myself to buy anything like that.

It's for collectors only something to brag about me thinks :D By the way nice to know your back safe and sound :salute: congrats on the new gun I always thought that the 10mm was replaced by the 40sw round. We should have a thread for gun I think they can be categorized as multitools  :)

Welcome back!  :salute:

Definitely impractical. But I'm primarily a collector, and it makes a great centerpiece for the collection. It's also a great conversation piece. A dealer friend ordered one out for me and I paid substantially less than list, though still pricy. I justified it to myself by saying its no worse than another auto pistol.  :D
By the way my latest acquisition is an HK USP Tactical 9mm. Rapidly becoming my favorite.

Yes, all of them are collector's knives.   Nothing more, nothing less.

duckman1975: .40 S&W was relased after joint development of Winchester (the round itself) and S&W (introduced in 4006 pistol: 40=caliber; 06 = DA/SA in stainless steel finish; yes, I know the S&W 3rd gen pistol codes by heart!!!).  Developed due to 10mm Auto (introduced in 1983 by Norma for the Bren Ten pistol...yes, I own a Bren Ten, and I DO have magazines, 3 to be exact, for it) being too hot a round for everyday use (.41 Magnum ballistics in a semi-auto pistol, easily shoots through walls, etc.).  The FBI downloaded it for their issue S&W 1076 pistol (10= 10mm Auto; 7 = non-standard barrel lenght; 6 = stainless steel finish).  Then, folks wanted a large bore auto in 9mm sized auto pistol.  Compromise was the .40 S&W.

ColoSwiss: I have an HK USP Tactical in .45 ACP...I replaced the factory sites with Tritium sites....NICE!!

The AR15/M4/M16-series rifle and the various Picatinny Rail/M1913 SPEC rail systems for it makes it the SAK of firearms!!   I need to find the "Mall Ninja/Tacticool" pic of the AR15 carbine with all the doo-dads attached to it...to include a Vic SAK.  Another would be the HK G3/HK-9X series of roller-lock rifles (5.56 = HK-33/HK93; 7.62mm NATO = HK G3/HK91; 9mm Para = MP5/HK94) and machine guns (HK21, HK13, etc).  I have an HK-91 made in 1981, and tons of accessories for it (i.e. 2 types of bayonets, 3 types of stocks, various claw-mounts with optics of all kinds, etc).

Thanks for the info. Don't know much about FA, but interms of recoil and stopping power how does 10 mm compare to a 40 sw?

Guys, please don't get me wrong here :D I am not an admin... (well, I am, but not in this site ;) ). It's just that IMO there is a big difference between SAKs/MTs and guns... and believe it or not some people actually don't like guns at all.
I think if you open a new thread about guns everybody would be happy
