The Questions thread/Helpdesk

So... I was thinking, we have a lot of people out here, who probably together know a lot of stuff about all kinds of things.

So, if you're wondering about something, and want to ask a question about it, but the question doesn't really need a new thread, try it here :D

I'll start...

When using the Ebay Global Shipping Program, do you -always- have to pay the customs charges, even if normally, like in most countries, there's a good chance normally your package wouldn't even have been charged?

A: I looked on ebay for the US and it says "The shipping charges include any US shipping charges that you specify, as well as applicable international shipping, handling, and other fees.

The import charges include applicable customs duties, taxes, brokerage, and other fees."

It's in english but this article goes is an announcement link and this link is (what I believe) is the answer.

EDIT:Sorry it took so long for someone to reply.

Yes and I have found you pay more than the usual charges when one doesn't pay attention and buy items from a seller using that  system. I stay clear of sellers who use it now unless they hid it in small legal print and I don't see it until I press the buy button with little to no way to back out of the buy.

So, yay, another question to get this thread back up :)

I was reading over the Mcusta website, and they talk about "33-layered Nickle Damascus" steel... This is the first time I see anything about nickle there... What does nickle damascus mean?

As I understand it, Ni layers are welded between steel layers to form an optical pleasing pattern. But it is not usable for the cutting edge!
