I am all for having a good discussion about things like this around a pitcher of some awful beer, but sadly an internet forum is a horrible place for something like this. It's far too easy for a comment to be misinterpreted and suddenly someone is offended, and it basically goes against the good nature we all try so hard to maintain here.
That's not to suggest that we are trying to stifle opinions that might be contrary to the public good, it just means that for the most part we feel it's pointless for people to start a potentially heated discussion and start some hard feelings over something that is not in our ability to affect.
Sadly the usual result of threads like this is that the world keeps turning, people keep doing things to cause problems and members who come here to get away from that kind of thing suddenly find themselves on the defensive, or drawing lines to separate themselves from other people with opposing viewpoints.
I'm all for opposing viewpoints, but no one here is going to start uttering threats simply because one person prefers Swiss made tools while another prefers American made ones!
