H1 DOESN'T hold an edge well or take one in my personal experience. I had a tasman salt and sold it.
H1 is somewhere around AUS-6/440A in overall edge retention. It's a very tough steel that won't rust or snap on you, but the edge wears away very quickly and it scratches up very easily. If you work around mud or water a lot and corrosion is a big problem, it's a great steel and currently far and away the best option that exists for rust-proof knives.
Otherwise, for what you'll pay for an H1 steel knife there are better alternatives for general use.
