My family Christmas story
on: December 25, 2011, 07:05:40 PM
So this year was great but weird. My boys and I were accompanied by my gf and her daughter. They live here. Duh. Anyway I showed Christmas spirit to my x-wife by letting her stay here Christmas eve (gf said ok) and Christmas day. It really made for a better Christmas   My kids were happy, my gf was happy, and I was happy. It might be weird but in a strange twist, there wasn't many gifts, but the ones they got were exactly what they asked for. I know they didn't like it when I had to work Saturday's and I didn't either. Through the struggle and pain I was in I did it anyway. My x showed up then was sleeping in her car last night, Christmas eve. I couldn't turn my back on her so I invited her stay. The joy that brought me, the kids, and my gf was so overwhelming I almost cried. So if you can share your joy please do it will amaze you how much better you will feel by doing the right thing. Ever since I joined this forum it seems my life has changed for the better. I have friends and people to share thoughts with. Be it good or bad I respect all your opinions and answers. To everyone here Thank you for all you do and have a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Good for you buddy!  I know it can be awkward to try and incorporate an ex into a current holiday celebration but when your kids look back on this over the course of their lives, they'll realize how special this day truly was.

She may be your ex, but she'll always be their current.

Glad it worked out for you.  I got an ex as well, and she doesnt even answer the phone when I call anymore.  I would have thought I'd get to talk to our son on christmas at least but nope.  (We dont live in the same part of the country)  Some people just don't ever change....  *sigh*

We call them x's but the real letter is y!

My ex is part of my family and we still love each other loads, but I know it's rarely that easy to mix things up.

You did something great and I'm glad you shared it with us. Happy merry jingle berries to you and yours dude

Update to the story. It's been so cold here that me and the gf asked her stay until she could find a place. It sucks sometimes but now she sees how much my kids love my gf and how much her daughter loves me.

Sounds like your a very good ex. If all people could act this way the world would be such a better place.

Very true.  Relationships shouldn't have to sour.

I agree my ex and me are best friends. We would do anything in the world for one another. When Jeff (cutlerylover) and I broke up we remained friends. Speaking of that we just was talking a little ago. I'd help him in any way I could. I feel if you truly cared for someone you wouldn't turn your back on them just because the relationship didn't work. I mean you must have something in common to hook up in the first place. Just my 3 cents. :D
