Spyderco tension screw and blade position?
on: December 30, 2011, 04:47:35 AM
I adjusted the tension screw on my Spyderco Tenacious and it moves the blade off center and when I get the blade to deploy with my proffered amount of tension the blade is touching the liners. Is there a way to loosen the tension screw without it moving the blade to the side? I have pictures if they are needed but this is pretty straight forward.

Not really, no.  If the blade isn't touching the liner and it's deploying as fast as you want it to, don't worry.  As the washers wear in you should be able to tighten up the pivot screw again a little to straighten out the blade if it really bothers you.

The blade in my Tenacious was off-center quite a bit when it came out of the box.  I found that loosening up all the screws in the handle that hold it together, and then retightening them as evenly as I could lined the blade up almost perfectly.  I tightened them down as much as I felt comfortable, so as not to strip any of them, and then adjusted the tension screw in the pivot.
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering.  Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.

Spyderco Para-Military 2 from CS is my favorite under $100 knife. Don't forget to the code "nutnfancy" for free shipping.
