After getting my Eagle scout badge in 1993 i've dabbled in collecting scout items. I have a box full of old badges , books, and anything else i come across at garage sales, flea markets and the like.
My dad found a couple of early scout books last week at Canton texas trades days..One called The Handbook for Scoutmasters (copyright 1927) and the other Handbook for Boys (copyright 1936)

by far the earliest scoutbooks in my collection. Just flipping thru it the scouts back then were not exactly green friendly

One section describes how to chop down a tree for tent poles.
Imagine camping back in those days with canvas tents, cast iron cookware, and those rustic backpacks. Real camping!
