What interests me is that several of these new products are using 9Cr13 steel, which as I understand it is a moderate upgrade from the AUS8 and 8Cr steels they've been using before. The red-class Benchmade I EDC has a 9Cr13 blade and I've been pretty impressed with it.
The Powerduo is interesting, looks like an Arc lock on the blade as well. The Slim Jim is kinda cool as well. Most of the rest of it.... bleh.Quote from: Max Archer on January 16, 2012, 10:39:30 PMWhat interests me is that several of these new products are using 9Cr13 steel, which as I understand it is a moderate upgrade from the AUS8 and 8Cr steels they've been using before. Can we just make note that the PowerDuo looks like the result of a PPP and a Vic 111mm meeting a dark room somewhere? I do kinda want one tho.
Sorry Nikos - my slippie comments were related to the SlipZilla
I didn't notice gear covers on it - I hope they get integrated and those pics are just to show the compound leverage is included. The Power Duo otherwise looks very interesting, as do the black slippy and the lights. The black slippy is a little large to be UK public carry, but I really like the idea of a larger non-locking folder for heavier cutting tasks - a very welcome addition in my mind. If I'm going to carry something that will cause some people to have incontinence issues - might as well make it a black one Well done SOG

It's too big to be UK legal, and it's going to street for more than the Byrd Tern (which is UK legal).SOG playing catchup to Spyderco isn't really a good thing for SOG.
I like the looks of the Slim Jim. Anyone have one of these yet?

You guys are both spot on. First hand, that knife part is so much like a Victorinox OHT it's not funny.

Oh noo ! First we had Gerberman.. ...And now we got SOGinox !! (Image removed from quote.)
Nope- we didn't discuss gear covers on this model. One side is pretty well already covered by the plastic scales and the other side doesn't seem that prominent. This is also a pretty compact tool and I think the addition of gear covers would have seemed extra bulky.Def
