I may be interested but have a question...

Is the black model different than the red and green?

See Gerber Website

Black

http://www.gerbergear.com/Tactical/Tools/Dime-Black_31-001134

Blade Length: 3.0"
Closed Length: 4.86"
Overall Length: 7.86"
Weight: 4.6 oz.
Steel Type: 7Cr17Mo

Red

http://www.gerbergear.com/Essentials/Tools/Dime-Red_31-001040

Overall Length: 4.25"
Closed Length: 2.75"
Weight: 2.2 oz.
Steel Type: 3Cr13 Stainless

Green

http://www.gerbergear.com/Outdoor/Tools/Dime-Green_31-001132

Overall Length: 4.25"
Closed Length: 2.75"
Weight: 2.2 oz.
Steel Type: 3Cr13 Stainless

The red and green specs are the same the black seems to be bigger and weigh more??

Thanks for all the great response.  I'm working overtime and will reply to everyone just as soon as possible.  Basketball season is wrapping up at the university.  That means many long days and  late nights between now and March.

Thanks for the update Travis   :salute:

I'm checking this thread and my PM's several times a day ... no pressure  :P
We've waited a long time for Gerber to come up with a mini tool that looks this good, so I'm sure we can all hang on a little longer   >:D  Don't burn yourself out in the process!

Thanks again  :tu:

I would attribute the differences in the description of black to copyedit errors on Gerber's website. Notice that the black version also supposedly has the following "features":

    Blade Retracts Partially Into Handle
    Hard Plastic Sheath
    G-10 Composite Handle

The first doesn't make sense at all, and the other two can't be true while being offered at the same price.

By the way, PM sent for Green yesterday -- looking forward to it, and definitely empathize with the demands of working at a university.

I'd say you're right Alba, I'm sure this is just a copy & paste error.  AFAIK they're all the same, whatever the colour.

Update:

I have the order list updated as of tonight.  We currently have 68 pieces reserved, if I didn't make any counting errors.  That is tremendous response!

I managed to get a shipping estimate for U.S. orders and have begun sending totals and payment instructions.  I have replied to several International members with "ballpark" shipping guestimates.  I will get more accurate pricing once I have tools in hand and will request International payments at that time.

Work on this will be on hiatus until Friday night when I am off work again.  The reservation period will remain open through 6:00pm Eastern time this Saturday, February 11.  After that time I will sort out the final totals and be preparing to place the order.

Feel free to PM any questions.  I will reply to them ASAP.

Hello all.  I'm wrapping up the day and night here at work and saw the note from Grant.  I had responded to a couple of PM regarding PayPal.

I have no idea why some are getting an error message that my email is not registered with PayPal.  It is registered and has been for several years.

I have received email notifications from PayPal that several payments have been made.  I do not have to work here at the university tomorrow night.  I will double check with PayPal and try to reply to everyone that has sent payment.  I will also be working to send payment instructions to others on the list.  I also saw a couple of notices of PMs adding pieces to the order.  I'll try to get them straight too.

This time of year my schedule is just short of insane on many days.  Today was one and Saturday will be another.  Rest assured I will spend every minute possible getting all this sorted so we can get the Dime order placed.

Thanks to all for your continued patience.

The order period for the Gerber Dime Group Buy is now CLOSED.

I will be totaling the order and preparing to place it.  Payment instructions for US orders and some International orders have have been sent.  Others will be sent once I receive the tools.

While no more orders will be accepted on this group buy, I will add a few extra pieces that will be listed in The Multitool.org Store for anyone who may want to purchase later.

Questions may be sent by PM or posted here.  I will reply ASAP.

Update:

I have placed the group order for 85 pieces.  Due to the size of the order, the supplier is getting stock from Gerber.  He said it will take about 2 weeks.

I will post further updates when I know more.

Thank you all for your participation.
