You said old style shield (the plain cross) yes?Could this be a 1980 Soldier?btw, I'm pretty sure it's a soldier either way (08 or 80). Since it doesn't have a keyring AND it has a date stamp.

If the 8 of 08 is toward the sharp edge side of the blade it is a 2008 - if toward thespine side a 1980.

Its hard to tell from the pics, but the nail nick on the bottle opener and the flattened rivets look like a Wenger.
