I got a SAK :)

It is 93 mm alox
But .. I dont know if it is soldier or a pioneer
It have an old style sheild
It does not have a keyring
It does not have a ingraving plate
It have 08 date stamp

So i think its a soldier , but .. Is it any rare ??

Because i know that 2008 is the first year victorinox launched the new soldier style
So that makes me think that its a pioneer

sounds like a soldier as im sure pioneers dont have year stamps  :think:

i dont think the new soldier came out till the end of 08  :tu:

You said old style shield (the plain cross) yes?

Could this be a 1980 Soldier?

btw, I'm pretty sure it's a soldier either way (08 or 80).  Since it doesn't have a keyring AND it has a date stamp.

It could be one of the short run they did in 08 as mentioned on the wiki  :tu:

No , i meant the long half of circle with a cross inside
And it looks like 2008

Yep the 08 is last year of Alox Soldier...

I had one and traded it for 06 model for my daughter...

If the 8 of 08 is toward the sharp edge side of the blade it is a 2008 - if toward the
spine side a 1980.

Its hard to tell from the pics, but the nail nick on the bottle opener and the flattened rivets look like a Wenger.

Wenger SIs and Victorinox alox Soldiers use the same can opener pattern.  It's the only Wenger that uses the current Victorinox can opener pattern.

Wenger SIs and Victorinox alox Soldiers use the same can opener pattern.  It's the only Wenger that uses the current Victorinox can opener pattern.

 :salute:  its the one thing that puts me off wengers is the lack of the little friver, ive never noticed that there soldiers are different, you learn something new every day   :tu:
