No sharp or pointy stuff tool

Building edc kit for my son who is in high school...can't have knife, scissors or awl...I like the knifeless fuse from leatherman, but it has scissors...any production tool that fits the bill?

You might want to look at some of SOG's offerings; you'll either have to get spacers or other replacement tools to swap out the knife, et al.

You could also try some of the one piece tool offerings- there are lots in that category without any sharps.  Sadly there's not a lot else that doesn't feature any kind of cutting surface.

You can also look at some keychain type tools like Swiss*Tech or Sebertech/IDL tools as they offer some decent (although small) pliers.

Damn, the sog pocket powerplier can swap the blade and awl for other tools easily it seems..I may have to get two...I do fly occasionally

Also consider the Gerber Artifact and shard, just remove the blade from the artifact. Remember a good tactical pen for any number of uses.

When I first read the title of this thread, my first thought was a rock.

I suppose it's the first multi-purpose tool for the caveman.  If you had flint stone with serrations on an edge it could be used as:
-Fire starter
-Crude saw
-Hammer
-Wood file
-Throwing weapon
-Knife sharpener
-Paper weight

Yeah I'm running dry on ideas.  I wonder how many cavemen/cavewomen EDC'd a rock.
