Pocket Tool X Pirahna
on: April 10, 2012, 09:14:50 PM
This just came in the mail today:

My first thought is that it's BIG.  I'd expected something about half this size, more in line with some of the other one piece tools I have.

I think it must be a Prehistoric Pirahna since it could eat my Shark Tool!

Still, it looks like a neat tool and I'm looking forward to trying it out- especially the bottle opener!

I am pleasantly surprised by it.  I like the size- it feels good in the hand.

I just received mine on Friday and I am very happy with it. I think my favorite feature is the package opener. It is a little long, however I keep it my back pocket and never feel it.

I was wondering how best to carry it- I'd initially planned to put it on my keys but that was before I'd sen how big it was.  Now that I have it in my hand I think it's a bit too big for my already bulky enough keychain.

You can remove the bit and elastic retention thingy and it will slip just fine in your LM (or other) sheath... ;)

Good idea.... except that leaves me bit-free!  Can it be done without destroying the rubber bit?

+1

I kept elastic bit holder and keep it in bit card pocket in LM Wave sheet... Fits perfectly!

Yes, the rubber is very flexible. Plus, if you then carry the Piranha in a multitool sheath, it won't be like you won't have any screwdrivers on you, eh? ::) :D

I keep mine in the back of my LM sheath as well (minus the rubber bit retainer).  Had mine for almost 2 years now and while I don't use it as often as I thought I might, I still love having it.  What really surprised me is how often I use the scraper edge, it's really fantastic, a great tool.  I have the 154cm earlier version but given the option of paying 15 dollars less, like it is now, I would have gone with the current version, still fun to have an earlier beefier version though.

I had it out today actually, trying to tighten the contacts on the Jeep's battery which were a little loose on the posts.

Just used mine yesterday to secure a scope to a .22 rifle.  Used the scraper edge as a large screwdriver, could have used a quarter or something, but who has money when they keep buying these gadgets? lol

Got mine in the mail yesterday  :tu:

So far, I've tried the bottle opener and package opener - they worked fine for me.
We'll see how it's gonna be carried (had it in the left front pocket of my jeans yesterday, but there's probably a better spot for it), and how often it's gonna be used.

It was bought as a supplement for my Spirit and Leatherman tools (holding nuts when tightening, use as a scraper, and so on), and for carry in situations where a knife will be frowned upon.
