Well, he went and won them all... bastid!

Anyone know who "smartknives" is?  I'm assuming he's one of those rotten "dealer" types...

(no offense Tim... or Mark :D )

SmartKnives is in reality a guy by the name of Dennis Kolva and you can see his site at smartknives.com.

I have had some very interesting dealings with Dennis in the past.  His site started off as a test platform for his software company but he developed into a collector.  Most of the information on that site was obtained from SOSAK or SOSAK members, and I am somewhat annoyed that he never credited SOSAK for any of it.

He also once sent me an email telling me that I shouldn't allow modders to modify SAKs... as if I had any choice in the matter!   :ahhh  He said it was like modifying Rolls Royces- they were perfect the way they are, and I am contributing to the confusion among collectors by allowing members to mod, and I was just as bad as those California dealers (meaning Rich Phifer at Central Valley and Tim Meeker, aka Felinevet) who swap scales on knives.

Come on Def, your telling me that you haven't mastered your mental powers good enough to control the minds of fellow SAK collectors. :D I mean look at all the tools you made me buy over the last year. I always blame you when my wife says not another tool. ;)

So what you're saying Def is that you can't send two men armed with mint, unaltered Vic Solos to someones house if they "mod" a SAK to "persuade" them into reversing their desecration?

I've got a feeling smartknives will resell everything he's won as single pieces and get a decent profit.  Not something I'd do; not worth the time and effort for a few bucks IMO.

I couldn't afford to pay the armed guards, let alone fly them around the world hunting down SAK modders!  Besides, I like mods... got a few myself and I've been known to swap scales and/or carve new ones from time to time.

Smartknives was supposed to eventually start selling SAKs and multis, but it's been a few years and no sign of anything going back out.

And if you think I'm not painting a nice picture of him, wait till Tim signs in! :P

maybe kreskin's at work?!

No, I read this thread too late. Sounds like a real fine fellow, this smartknives. >:(

He got the whole thing for what, less than 80 bucks? If I had known about this auction and this guy, I would have bid 100 bucks just to beat him. I would have then turned around and given them away to forum members.

That's how we work around here! 8)
