Summers coming (93mm mod idea)
on: March 06, 2012, 09:31:23 PM
Summer will be here before we know it. That means camping and cook outs. I had an idea for a 91 or 93 mm mod. Call it the "Campfire" the tools would be a saw, to cut down a branch. The main blade to sharpen the stick, cut the hot dogs, etc. Finally a combo tool or regular cap lifter for the liquid refreshments. A pocket clip too. Never seen one quite like that, a large Lumberjack. Anyone interested in. Building it for me? I don't have room or time to start another hobby. My kids take up all that.

An alox farmer for less than $30 gives you all that functionality albeit in 3 layers instead of 2.  Would you spend alot more just to get 2 layers?  91mm combo tools are hard to come buy so you'd likely have to get a 91mm compact just for that part, so you'd be looking at buying a pioneer and compact plus labor.  Not trying to discourage your idea, just making sure you want what you want for what it will cost.  :D  If that makes sense.. lol

Yeah I figured it would be expensive. Thanks for looking out. I was thinking in the $100 or more range. I have a Firesteel Farmer from Roger at SwissBianco. I have seen some negative comments about Roger on here but have had nothing but good dealings with him. I understand his stance on mods from a business stand point and like the knives that he is selling. But I think that modding is great and have no problem paying for quality work. I have pretty much only carried SAK's for 20 years. I like to rotate them. If anyone could give me an idea of a cost maybe that will make up my mind. I have another post about a possible Wenger mod.

Well you could take that fire steel model and mod it. Remove the awl, flat sd and can opener and then replace the awl with combo tool. Then it would be a campfire. Everything you need to start a fire on one knife. It wouldnt be the first time I've torn apart a +B knife lol.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
