L2D more visible!
on: January 31, 2008, 01:30:40 AM
it's not a mod per say but it is an improvement. My Fenix L2D is so dark black, I mean it's hard to see sometimes
and I got it before they had some lighter colors (cree). so I heard about some people putting bright shrink tubing
on theirs, "good idea aye!" I got some 3/4" glow in the dark shrink tubing today and I placed a small band on one
of my L2Ds;

even in the daylight it's more visible, I'll let you
know how it is tonight ;)

Nice Idea. Where you get the glow in the dark tubing.

Last night I put some grip tape on the head and tail cap of my P3D to make it more "grippy".

from here; http://cableorganizer.com/uv-reactive/uv-reactive-heat-shrink.html
really nice prices and shipping and fast! I got Neon Green , Luminous (only ones in 3/4)
but the green doesn't seem to glow! but it was inexpensive. It is tight to get on but
do-able!

If you leave the light on, you can see it no matter how dark it is.    :D >:D

It's a good idea--I have gaffer's tape in the same spot.  It improves the grip dramatically.

LOL actually on some surfaces in the day time, it's hard to see the darn thing (I'm old).
I like it being more visible day and night, and if it's a good glow-in-the-dark
material with 5 minutes of direct sunlight it should be visible for 12 hours at night,
I'll see.

This is what I did to my P3D to make it easier to hold and turn to turbo. I like the glow in the dark thing though. I'll have to get some and give it a try.

That my friend is the 3M self adhesive stair tread. You really got to try it on stuff.

Try it now on your multis scales. IT really keeps them from slipping.

hawkchucker is right its 3M stair tape and the stuff is super aggressive. makes turning the head into turbo mode with on hand a snap. I have only had it on for a couple days.

Some interesting ideas in this thread, might have to give one or two of them a go at some stage. I have noticed my L2D is quite slick in the hand so an extra bit of grip would come in handy. A little question though, do these methods make it any harder to remove from the sheath?

Honestly. Sometimes. Ya got to remember if the sheath is tightfitting to begin with, It will be snug. However the stuff is so rough that it will usually only take one or two removals to get the thing as a comfortable grip.

I know on my tools with leater sheathes that the stuff break it in better. But will not really destroy the thing.
