Tornadoes in and around Dallas Texas right now

We have had a pretty exciting afternoon with at least 5 tornadoes touching down and causing damage in Southern Dallas, Arlington and other areas nearby. Found a few videos already uploaded. There are some great video scenes of tractor trailers being swirled around in the air even a couple at one time!

Well, my cell phone service was down and the internet was down for awhile! 

Finally got ahold of the wifey at work and they were hit by heavy hail, golf ball and up in size. Our car was thumped pretty good with broken front wind screen, tail lamps and such but no one was hurt.

So far all I hear is minor injuries, but loads of major home damage by heavy hail up to baseball size in the northern areas and tornadoes in the southern areas of the city wide area. I think Arlington, Mansfield, Kennedale area might have gotten the worst part with Lancaster getting thumped pretty bad too. That is where the trucks were being thrown around.

i lived up in Mckinney, Plano , and Allen from 2002-2006. Scary weather up in north texas

Hail always was present everytime it rained. No use in fixing hail damaged cars. Everyone was rolling in dimpled autos.

ill take our hurricanes over those tornados any day. At least you can see a hurricane coming.

Latest word is about a dozen or so injuries with one critical. Tornado touch down count is at about 10-13, but it will change when the inspectors go out and survey the damage to see what really happened and how many tornadoes there actually were. Sometimes the same tornado is reported by several people or it hops around and skips about.

I live in the northern sector while most of the damage was in the southern sector but the car was abused by some tennis ball sized hail while it was parked at my wife's workplace!

Current count was 13 tornadoes touched down, about 700 or so homes and buildings damaged, and about 12-15 people injured 1 critical. They are talking about 10's of Millions in damages which is kind of small compared to other bad weather events we have had around here over the years.

The fact that the storms hit in broad daylight and there was so much coverage really made for some eye-popping video shots. Hail up to softball sized was photographed and the holes in wind screens certainly showed as proof.

It was a good thing there were no more injuries or any deaths at all.

It's good to hear that there were no deaths. Still, sad to hear about the injuries and damage, but its still a lot better than it could have been.

Amen to that!

I was a teenager growing up in Wichita Falls, Texas in April 1979 when the big Tornado hit there and killed 44 people. I have seen some big time destruction! While this is certainly bad enough it could have been so much worse.

Sometimes you just have to wonder about the death toll though.  I remember a number of years ago watching Real TV or some other "Caught on tape" type show where this guy at a cottage was filming a tornado in the distance, then continued filming as it came towards him, crossed the lake, came up the dock, smashed the window in front of him.... then he ran and hid.  Given the raw power and unpredictable nature of these things I think that was the absolute stupidest thing he could have done.  If you really want footage of it, set up the camera and take cover, then search for the camera in the rubble afterwards.
