No, they were not cheap, which is why I never ended up getting one.  I'm not sure it's really worth the effort to get you (or anyone else) to pick it up and esend it on.  There's not much I'd be able to do with it that I can't do with my netbook anyway.

Thanks anyway though.

Gotcha -- Wasn't sure what they cost new these days or if you were really in need..

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread - feel free to delete these last few responses if necessary, I'm sure that link will be dead shortly anyways.

Have a good one!

No worries- we wouldn't be much of a forum if we discouraged members from talking now would we?  :D

Call me stupid but what's the point of those things? It has own processor, ram, display, power, but you still have to plug in the phone?

Nope- it has display, power and keyboard.  You plug the phone into it and it uses the phone's processor and RAM.  Plus, it recharges the phone.  It's a good idea, but not quite "there" yet as you need a tethering plan to use the lapdock with the phone's data package, which strikes me as kind of dumb since the thing is an extension of the phone and not a standalone device.

Do you seriously need a tethering plan to use the 'Net with a lapdock??  That is almost unbelievable.

However there are ways around silly little things like that. ;)  Just PM me.

Ya have to admit at $69.00 it's a very nice accessory to have.  I certainly wouldn't pay even close to what it retails for though.

Yes, I've read about the ways around that, but it really does boil down to the fact that my netbook is more useful than the lapdock.  Had I not bought a netbook shortly before the Atrix was released I'd probably have opted for the lapdock, but as I had a shiny new device in hand I don't really see the point of getting another.

Yeah at $70 it's not bad, but at original price might as well just get a netbook, which probably explains why it's so heavily discounted.

I think most telcos here allow tether without additional charge now.

I think it was originally $299, so yeah, better to get a netbook.  Of course, if I hadn't just bought a netbook a couple of months before, then I would have sprung for the lapdock.  I think I bought the netbook shortly after getting back from SHOT last year since my old one died when I got home, so figure somewhere around February.  I got the phone in May (at least according to when I posted in this thread!) so yeah, if I'd checked out the news from CES (the week before SHOT) and spotted the Atrix I probably would have waited.

No big deal really, as the lapdock can't be used without taking the phone out of it's case and I hate taking mine out of the Otterbox, so that likely wouldn't have been a great feature for me after all.
