Red Victorinox Pioneer
on: May 12, 2012, 01:34:35 AM
This is my first post.

I can't believe I found a forum like this, where people are just as much obsessed about multi-tools as I am.

With that being said, I really like the vibe from the members, all the conversations I've read through seem respectful and friendly.

I've got a question about the "collect-ability" of certain knives.

I have a SAK Farmer in silver that I use the heck out of. Its still in excellent condition but used none the less. I realize that this knife doesn't really carry and value above and beyond the norm.

I have a Red Pioneer that I haven't used yet. Is this something that I am better off leaving alone?

Any guidance on how I can determine the "collect-ability" of this knife and future SAK's I come across would be appreciated.

I'd say it is worth about $50.  :D

For future reference, it's always best to check recent auctions on edcsource and ebay (check completed auctions in the advanced search)

Also, welcome to the forum. You'll love it here.

Welcome to the forum.

The Red Pioneer is not something I would hesitate to use, but each person is different and has different goals.  If you love it I'd really recommend using it.  If you're happy with silver just use the farmer or get a new silver Pioneer and use that.

Keeping up-to-date on the forums and watching ebay will give you a good idea about what's collectable... just remember the future may be different.

You have a lot of stuff here to read, and other places as well.

Thanks for the insight.

Although I owned a bunch of knives, they are all users, the red Pioneer would be my first non-user.

I've got my eye on a Woodsman next, I think I may even spring for Scibeer version if they are affordable.

Welcome to the forum.  :salute:
The pioneers as very nice and you have quite a few colours to choose from.
Some much harder than others to find.
And not always that cheap either.

If you wanna start collecting Alox, this red Pioneer is good starting point. All colored Alox are collectible  ;)

... oh, and welcome aboard :-)
