You are down ILL?

Get well soon, your community needs your dedication and work ethic to prosper!

What a burden, good thing you have a REBAR!

Seriously, it is a bummer to feel ill, chest infection covers a lot of ground, breathing, blood flow, did I mention breathing.
Take care, prayers for recovery.  I am sure you are irreplaceable. 🤪

Thank you LC. I don't feel good taking time off work - last time that happened the college nearly fell down because me and my Rebar weren't there to fix it.

He's a character created by Mike Mignola who also created Hellboy. Fantastic name though eh?

That is it, the graphics are familiar!

My oldest grandson (24yo) has been collecting comics and graphic novels.   In fact he sold a few to help pay for semesters at the university.

He is very methodical with his collection and had tried to get me interested in his favorites.

The art work on many are exceptional.

Well this will serve as a lesson to me - my jealous Rebar bit me when I was (stupidly) trying to close it with one hand.

I'm not sure my PST will replaced my Rebar. I like it but the Rebar feels more robust. I really like the PST though and it has the advantage of being non locking and there's always those scissors.....

I understand that Mags.  I love the PST, and I think in a lot of ways it's a better quality tool than the Rebar.  That being said, when you pick up a Rebar, the PST feels really dated.  Like you, I was around when the PST came out and how revolutionary it was then.  Things have evolved, and just the ergonomics of the Rebar really stand out.

The Rebar really is the stand out MT for me Barry, but at times like this, when torn between two choices (plus Farmer), I remember the teachings of the great Ronald Schröder, and put them all in my pocket.

Mags, may I call you Mags?

First off, you have second more refined PST, the PST II.

It is my belief the PST II was designed as a tool with a serious fisherman in mind, one that creates his own flies or fine tunes his crank bait  or poppers.

The scissors can easily trim one’s finger nails, or cut a piece of cloth, or trim the line of a newly tied knot.

The file’s diamond side with hook groove can sharpen the hook tip to a point, that no well respected trout would notice piercing its lip.   And, the pliers can easily bend the hook to open the throat, or angle the hook tip to one side or the other to improve a proper hook set that will enhance the angular’s denture, as well as allow a safe unharmed release if desired.

The blade can cut cordage with the SE and the PE can easily gut and separate fins and gills from the tender filets for a delightful frying in your favorite skillet.

The PST II which you have is the refined brother of the original PST.

Your REBAR, is cut of a different cloth.  It is the little version of the hardy and robust SUPER TOOL 300, as  a dependable do everything tool, regardless of the  challenge only yielding to the ST300 in very rare circumstances.

If you think your REBAR was upset with that skin pinch, watch out, the PST II  may just seperate a chunk of the end of a finger!

Two different tools, one is refine for delicate and delicate tasks and the other a bulldog that knows no limits.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Of course you may call me mags! I've been called worse

Like Mary MacGregor, I feel like I'm torn between two lovers, though it sounds like the PST will exact a more terrible revenge on me than the Rebar.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the PST II (at least that's what I say within earshot) - the non-locking plus scissors and the heritage are all really appealing. I imagine I will continue to use the Rebar at work, and the PST at home.

Just a suggestion, avoid call yours PST.

PST II, or Isquare, or as you mentioned Bee!

Sibling rivalry I am sure, I can not even keep a PST and a PST II in the same cube, there is such a clattering. Must keep separate 🤪

For future reference - my PULSE is more like its PST II cousin in temperament.

It too has scissors and the groove diamond file.

I am searching for a PULSE OR PST II for youngest grandson.  I just showed him how to maintain his fishing hooks and best method to trim his fishing knots instead of biting with his teeth. 🤫

Also, the BOND is a good non locking alternative to the REBAR.   It has more REBAR DNA.

I did consider the bond but that doesn't have scissors or a saw does it?

No it does not.

It really does not matter to me as I prefer VICTORINOX scissors and saw.   A Huntsman compliments to BOND nicely.   Like suburban settings, pop a cork of wine is involved, saw to cut kindling to start a fire, and scissors to cut open a package of what ever😊

Bond pliers for hot pot lids etc.

The REBAR remains my go to for day to day homestead chores and pair it with my trusty VAGABOND if scissors are required.

The original PST and BOND are interchangeable.  I have multiples of each.

But, my PST II is indispensable when the grandkids and I go fishing.

For this old goat, I am not a one tool guy. Variety is the spice of life.   Give them awl a turn and find new ways to make life easier.

I've gone all Ronald Schröder today and brought in my Rebar, PST II and Farmer. Unfortunately, until I have access to some uranium to sip, I only have the two hands.
