They added it to cabelas website over the last few days, so i'm guessing it'll be shipping very soon.Honestly, i couldnt care less. Maybe using gerbers have given me (negative)bias, but all of these 'out the front' style tools just feel like gimmicky garbage. They always rattle, and the other tools seem to be compromised to make room for the required mechanism to allow the pliers to slide out. The fewer moving parts in a heavy-use multitool, the better. If you absolutely need 1 had opening pliers, loosen the pivots on your leatherman or get a SOG.

Now that I know that my MP600 that I have used and abused for over 10 years(and still going strong) is just gimmicky garbage I better find something to replace it.

Seriously, if the slide out pliers were such a weak, useless gimmick, why have there been so many military contracts that stipulated slide out pliers? So many contracts in fact that the folks at Leatherman think that it' worthwhile to try and chase some down for themselves?Anyone who thinks Gerber is crap should realize that they are probably one of the most common multitools in active military service today, and that many of Leatherman's new designs incorporate something that Gerber came up with, like the replaceable cutters, exchangeable blade holder and now the useless slide out pliers.Def

Those are garbage. I also know a few people in the forces who were supplied gerbers and absolutely hate them. I know the contract with the canadian forces was ended and switched to SOG.But you're right, judging a company that has put out a LOT of chinese made crap over the past 10 years, and celebrity endorsed re-makes of their cheap chinese crap(Bear Grylls) is unfair. So i now have a new military issue 600 coming my way. Will it rattle? Absolutely, since thats what every single person(fan or hater) says about them. Will it hold together well? Maybe, based off reviews i have seen. Does a military endorsement really mean anything now a days? It shouldnt, since it does not take an annalist to know just how corrupt and crooked military equipment acquisition is.
No manufacturer has the monopoly in getting it right or wrong, and country of manufacture is NOT a true reflection of whether a tool is any good or not either.

The OHT won gear of the year for a product that hasnt hit the streets yet. the message has a link that brought me to the LM site with the OHT on display with its own page. Can't remember if this is old news but I see the OHT in the Cabelas catalogue. 2012 fall edition IIRC. I'm no fanboy but for some reason I think I need one! Not likely going to be a group buy on this one eh? I know, I know to me :pStay multi my friends
