Is the SOG PowerAssist a palm pincher?
on: July 13, 2012, 12:51:12 PM
I haven't been able to examine a SOG PowerAssist locally.

Youtube videos show almost no space between the handles when the pliers are deployed. Can the PowerAssist handles pinch your palm if the pliers slip off a fastener (like the original Gerber Multiplier)?

Thanks.

I don't think so  . Most of the SOG PA's inside edges are fairly well rounded including the blades .
I think if you had large hands with very fleshy palms there is a potential  . I don't have large fleshy hands so I reckon I am safe  :D

PA ready to go with no pressure on the handles

With pressure the gap does close with the potential for a pinch  , not a high chance I would of thought

Maybe anyone with large 'meaty' hands might have gotten pinched by a PA

Grant's dad uses a SOG PA I think   & I think he is of generous proportions  :D

Thanks for your insights -- especially the photos.   I had a bad palm pinching episode with the old Gerber Multiplier and don't care to repeat it with other multitools.

The powerAssist is my current EDC and I do not have any issue regarding pinch, and its a powerful MT.
