So as you may know, for a while now Victorinox website redirect all traffic to its website to your own country's version. The problem is they dump you to the home page, not the "equivalent" page so to speak.

This just rendered all search engine results absolutely useless, I used to be able to find a particular product quickly with google but that's not happening anymore. So in a sense, their website is also useless now.

I want to smack whoever came up with this idea silly...  >:(

Just a frustrated rant I suppose...

Me too. Hugely dissapointed by that site lately. What a poor customer experience.

IIRC they did stop it for a while but now it's back. >:(  It also make the friendly "hey look at this.." links totally useless.

Ya we discussed this several times in the past... then they stopped it and we were so happy... now it's back and as you point-out it works stupid'r than ever.

Victorinox is still at least a decade behind in electronics and IT technology... They just don't get it...  they do hire some good firms from time to time to do work them though.

It could be that Victorinox USA insisted on it... not sure... but I have to say I've heard so many stories and my personal dealings with VSA seem to confirm that they are really not that competent. It makes me sad.

When Vic blocked their Swiss site several years ago, I emailed the co. & told them I was a collector and that their home site included items that were not available at my location, e.g., the Survival Kit (large size). They emailed me back giving me an address that could access their home site. As Francis H. noted, their home page opened up, until recently. Perhaps if Multitool as an organization w/thousands of viewers would contact Vic, it might convince them to reopen it. I believe they do monitor our site since Peter H. of Wenger recently sent us a congrats note. As Vic knows, North America is their largest market. In addition, there is an growing number of sak collectors, potential customers who should be encouraged not discouraged.

Sometimes I'm searching something on Google I will see a link to the Vic site with a description of something good or the product I'm searching.
I click into it and I end up at the homepage thinking how to do I get to the article/info page I wanted.

If you look to the html that builds the site, it is a mess, with lots of commented out code, tests exposed, stuff like that. Looking at that I found out we can see any of 3 versions of the site, wherever we are (currently that is): a "Canada" view, a "US" view and a "Swiss" view. Here's how to do it:
- navigate to any url in the menu
- add cy=us (or cy=ca or cy=ch) to the end of the url
- the site goes back to /us (or /ca or /ch) but then you are on that country context and you can navigate at will.

Didn't see differences between "ca" and "us", but from those to "ch" (the version I usually see) there's a lot of differences. Example, on the classics there are 16 models on the "ch" site but 32 on the us/ca site.
