Most comfortable Pocket/medium size knife
on: July 09, 2012, 07:53:09 PM
Hi,

I've carried Benchmade Mel Pardue pocket knife for few years  now and wanting to get different ones.

I know it's a loaded question, but just wondering what you folks consider as comfortable pocket knife.

I'll be using this mainly for cutting fruits, cardboards, etc.

Thanks

Is it the Minigrip you have? If not, that one's great!

Without knowing what your needs are for blade length, I'd suggest a Spyderco Delica or Endura.  They have a nice narrow profile, and are very slim with the FRN scales.  Very light weight, very strong, great edge, and good VG10 steel.  You can also get them with ZDP 189 blades if you like.

I really like my benchmade 527- the handle makes it very comfortable to handle.  The ergonomics on spydercos are awesome too.  Delica or check out the junior.

Howabout a small fixed blade, in a pocket pouch?

Fällkniven TK3 is a nice compromise between pocketability and ergonomics, I think. Not sure whether it's the size you was thinking of, though.

The best mid size folder for the price to me is the spyderco native it's made in USA out of made in usa S30V good lockback. If you got money to spend i love my sage 2 but it cost twice as much and is made in Taiwan out of the same blade steel with Ti frame lock.

I'm into Spydercos so my opinion is jaded.

Kinda hard to beat the Juni, serious why do we (me included) prefer folders over fixed?

Cocobolo TK3 for style and finish, TK4 when expecting nasty chemicals or dirt, or wanting to save weight. ;)

For me it's only a question about sheeple friendliness and local law enforcement. If we had sane knife laws I'd probably always carry a fixed blade along with a SAK. Adding a joint in the middle of a knife is really a bad idea. As the world is a silly place, I usually “make do” with the SAK only.

Back on topic, to mix it up a little with what knives we mention, I think the Great Eastern Cutlery #73 feels very nice in the hand. (Sorry, haven't got a picture, but GEC has: http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/735108-elk.jpg )

I've owned many knives and the Cold Steel Hold Out II  or Boker Trance are the most comfortable pocket-able knives I've had. They are also among the top all-around great knives I've ever used.

Why should we stay on topic, the newbie isn't responding anyway  :D
I like your taste mate. TK4 is the Best. I've lost quite some edge on my U2 over the years.
TK4 is definiatly on my wanted list for X-mas! (as it was last year, lol)

Want to spend some? The Benchmade Emissary 470
Want to save some? The Buck Vantage 340 (Select Small)

I own both, I like both, and can say nothing bad about the $20 Buck knife. It does a great job.
