I dunno; each of those boxes holds a Gerber Infinity Ultra-M with white LED (wish I had one or two red LED models); in addition to the one resting on top, I have two regular Infinity Ultras, too.  My only Gerber at the moment is the FLiK, though I don't know if I'll keep it or not at the moment.

This doesn't show my couple Fenix E01s, L2D CE, LD20+, Maratac AAA, or Victorinox/Inova lights.

I just got my first fancy light, a fenix E05, shown with friends.
(the light was mine for 5 minutes and then "gifted...")

Did you 'want' to gift it, or did someone else decide for you? :(

I have some really cheap ($3) Small Sun, plain black ones that I expect nobody will actually want..

QUESTION:
The top part with the lens, that you turn to switch the light on, is a different shade of blue than the rest of the light. Is that normal?

Yeah, anodizing from different batches often comes out with different shades, especially colored anodizing.

Conservatively I put it at 2500 lumens, as it takes a huge output hit due to the High CRI emitters. If you get one with the 1550mA boards and R5 XP-G's it'll go clear over 4000 lumens.

It is bigger than I expected.

QUESTION: Will the lens get scratched? Does it need a pouch/sheath?

Very nice mate. :tu:  While I don't have any experience with that particular Jetbeam, I can say none of the lights I keep clipped to a pocket have gotten scratched up, including my Jetbeam PRO-1.  It very much depends on how you treat it I guess.

I was thinking of leaving it in a car, where it will be shaken about a bit. I found a large sheath to use.
It is advertised as having scratch resistant glass lens, but that could mean anything.

It has a very nice, uniform spread of the beam in both settings, by the way.

Gareth I like that also. It just came in and when it gets dark outside I`ll try it out. Some times I feel like a little kid again when a new flashlight comes in.    :)

Just received a few bits i ordered from illumination supply.

They certainly help bulk out my CR123/18650 collection.

From left to Right: Ultrafire WF-501B, Jetbeam TC-R3, Malkoff MD2, Dark Sucks Alpha MC18-B, Valiant Concepts VME Ti head with twisty body.

The Alpha is a very impressive item with excellent build quality. I haven't tried it with a fully charged battery yet though.

Ooooo Ducksucks Tofty !  I had a play with one just like that a little while ago on a pass around. Cracking torch, fantastic quality, built like a tank!

I'm hearing alot about this program, i really must check it out.

The alpha is a beautiful thing and it's arrived just in time for camping trials.
Annoyingly the ultrafire is still my brightest torch at the moment. The alpha i got doesn't use the very brightest emitter offered and the ultrafire gets very hot very fast but i had expected a different outcome.
The lumen hunt continues....

Lumens aren't everything :) (says the guy with 4 3000+ lumens lights)

The Alpha clearly had been designed with reliability in mind. Chasing extreme outputs will usually result in more failures - which is win/win for manufacturers as bigger numbers sell more lights, and more breakdowns mean more replacement sales. When you're out camping and the ultrafire fails after dropping it on the grass, but the Alpha is still working after dropping it it a river, I'm sure lumens will cease to matter :)

I'd love an Alpha, but something keeps stopping me from buying it. I can't put my finger on the reason why. I keep filling out the order form, and stopping before I press the go button.

As for your ultrafire: getting hot isn't necessarily a bad thing, it means the heat is escaping the emitter and not frying it. You only have to worry if the whole thing gets too hot to hold.
