Well, a diagnosis of something specific is great news.  hopefully you can find something at a reasonable price.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Man, you just can't catch a break with this stuff.  You get an actual diagnosis, and now are expected to pay $200 a month for meds.  Ridiculous >:(.  I hope you can get it all sorted out buddy :tu:

:-\ well, she's back in! She spoke to the doc over the phone and they said she should just come back in, so a friend had to go drop her off, so I'll be here with the kids awaiting any info, this sucks! JR

And now she back home :ahhh so they have made it official it's recurrent Pericarditis. Now they have to get the right med and dosage to keep it away! So, every time she notices it coming back she's got to take the med to get rid of it, and if not that's when it can lead to the fluid around the heart in which leads to having the surgery to have it drained. Got it, good cause I don't! But she said that the docs and nurses apologized for sending her home to early, and that the pharmacy in the hospital was suppose to set her up with a Rx but didn't, so since they were closed for the night, they gave her a dose for the night to keep her stable until tomorrow when we can get our pharmacy, and this time not some $300 med! But she's only suppose to take a nine day dose. Every time she notices it, run to a doc or hospital to get them to right it out, start the dose for the nine days and it should be taken care of, until it comes back and start it all over "again" and all this with no insurance, such fun! Hey but at least we got one step further and now know what it is! :tu: JR

I know the troubles are not over, but they have a face now, and a medication.  Good luck, and please know we care and hope you keep us informed.

I completely empathize with the frustration and fear of this, and hope things work out. The condition isn't one to take lightly, but I really hope that now that the problem is diagnosed that treatment will control it. :tu:

I'm glad this is finally getting sorted out for her :tu:  It's too bad there wasn't a med she could take daily that would keep it in check, instead of having to watch out for it and make a hospital visit every time it happens.  Still, at least now when she has the pains and goes to the hospital, there will be a known condition and treatment, instead of enduring repeated tests and frustration from a lack of results.

+1
Now knowing what's been causing all this misery must be a big relief for you guys.  I couldn't imagine going that long and not knowing.  You guys made a great call switching hospitals!  :tu:  Too bad the other one couldn't have been of better help to you guys.

Hopefully things will be able to straighten out for you guys some now and allow you to focus on things other than worry.

Glad they figured it out finally JR!  :tu:  And I hear you on the price of prescriptions.  MY doctor changed my pain meds, and the one he wrote for would have cost me $175 AFTER insurance!  :ahhh  The pharmacist called him, and actually increasing the dosage of one of the components of the pill slightly dropped the price to $8.95.....

If it's one thing you don't have to tell me is the price of meds, mine are over $2,000 a month, just one alone is $475! And another is $350, Yet the most important one is only $6, and that's before insurance, which takes care of the majority of mine. I just got back from the pharmacy, to pick up two of the Rx they want her on, to find the house empty, she found a ride in to the hospital she was at yesterday to pick up the meds she was suppose to get, but here's the funny part, they said that they would give her half of what she was to get, but on top of that they only had half of the amount they would give, get it? So technically she ended up with a quarter of what she's to get, and has to go back tomorrow to get another quarter of the amount and that's it. So she has a doc appointment tomorrow with one of the docs that said he would work with her without having insurance and see what were suppose to do, because this will come back in a few months if that, so what are we to do just go back into the er, to start this all over? Or go to his office and get the Rx? But he's willing to work with her personally, so I guess well see where this heads.. Thanks everyone for the support, it means a lot to me and also to the wife. JR

Partially, yes, Detron, but it's also the law of supply and demand.  With more common medication strengths, either more companies produce them, or the production quantity of the few (or sole) manufacturer is higher.  This is why you'll see Zolpedem Tartrate 10mg typically being a bit cheaper than the 6.25 mg dose.  I routinely fill scripts from a 500 (or 1000?) bottle of 10 mg, verses only a 100 count bottle of 6.25 mg, which hardly moves in comparison.  The same is said of Lisinopril 40 mg verses Lisinopril 30 mg, of which very few doctors prescribe.

Also, great news that they've figured out what's wrong with her, MP. :)

Well she's back in, again! The pain never really went away since she's gotten out last time but it's come back twice as bad, I don't really know what there going to do besides jack her up on Rx, and maybe take another X-ray of her heart to see if the fluid built up around it again, if so then there going to have to drain it yet again, so I'll just have to wait to find out, but in a better note she qualified for help through the company that manufactures the Rx she needs in order to keep the fluid from building up, so now I sit here and wait, for any info, I love down time, NOT! Well just received a phone call, she will be coming home in a few, there's nothing they can do, the sack around her heart is still swollen and the only cure is time with the Rx, so she's just going to have to ruff it out, just wish I could take the pain for her,, and with the Rx coming from the manufacture hopefully it won't take to long, fingers crossed! There's just one who's not going to be too happy with her coming home, but oh well, it's her side not his! JR

Thanks man, I need something to go right for once! Now where the heck is she, I don't know if I can keep my eyes open much longer, unless I'm staying up all night, since the kids will be up in three hours, in that case I need a freaking energy boost of something. JR

That's my ideal schedule right there :tu:  Only thing is, I stay up almost as late, but still have to get up by 6:30 during the work week :ahhh  I just can't bring myself to go to bed much earlier as I feel I'm wasting valuable "me" time, since that's all I really get.

JR,
Sorry I missed this buddy as I ended up having to tend to baby girl last night when she woke up completely for some reason.  She made me leave a bunch of unread topics that I couldn't get to before I had to get to bed, which I hate doing.  Anyway, glad your wife didn't have to spend a couple days in the ER.  Hopefully she gets the meds soon and gets some actual relief for once :tu:

Ahhhh, I'm awake AGAIN! OMG, she passed out around 5ish, and well I'm not going to bed to sleep for an hour just to be awoken again, so I staid up and let her sleep, I must have dozed off about six times, got the kids out and went right to bed, all to be awoken by the phone going off at 12, the little guy wasn't feeling good so he had to come home, so while out we the to the pharmacy to get both hers and my Rx, along with a bag of Doritos and a 10 for $10 of wine coolers! Shhh I know I'm not suppose to but I need a freaking break, we both do! JR
