Hello from Europe
on: September 11, 2012, 12:33:14 PM
Hi. I'm from Spain. I'm visiting this forum, and Multitool.org for a long time, so I decided to register. I have a blog in spanish with reviews of multitools, obviously inspired by this site.  :climber:

Hope I can contribute with something here!

Thanks! Well I'm not very good with mods, my Trekker was a great succes, but I'm not very good, honestly. ;)

The multitools and SAKs I have now are (maybe I'm forgetting someone):

-From Leatherman: Charge Ti with Bit Kit and Bit Extender (my every day multitool), Crunch, Skeletool, Squirt P4, Micra, Juice, Universal Tool Adapter.
-Victorinox: Swisschamp (with SOS kit sheath), Swisstool Cs Plus, Trekker, Executive, Farmer, Swissbit (the mp3 player), Bantam, Eco Waiter, Eco Huntsman, Victorinox Swisscard Lite, Manager, Midnite Minichamp white led (my other EDC).
- Wenger: Biker, Safari, Mini Grip, Executive, Top Executive, Mike Horn.
- And a Topeak Alien II for my MTB, a SwissTech UtilyKey, a Kershaw A100C, a BCB Mini Work Tool and one Aitor SAK of the spanish army.

Jesus, I never wrote a list of my stuff before. And I don't think in myself as a collector at all. I think I have too much, I only use a few of them...

Well, I had one, the old s60, but I sold it while it was in mint condition. I was planning to buy the new one with the cover for the cogs(?), but my purchases are a bit frozen now...

Thanks to everybody again ;)

Welcome aboard! Do you know anything about the Spanish knife industry? We need more people who knows something about that. :)

Well, I'm not an expert at all, but I know our industry is still fine, we have a great tradition in knife making. Maybe you know for example about Albacete and Toledo, famous spanish cities of knife makers.
Apart from our brands --Aitor (they make big SAKs!), Muela, Cudeman...--- we make in Spain knives for foreign factories and then they sell the knifes under their brand. Sometimes, when you buy Boker, Linder, Puma... you are buying spanish knives. They sell several models that we make for them. Our industry is fighting, successfully by now, the chinese invasion. And, did you now that Victorinox's steel comes from Spain? (Probably Wenger too). ;)

Examples of Aitor's SAK, a "rescue" model:

Regards!

I didn't know about Albacete, but I thought everybody knew of Toledo. :) Also, one of the two remaining Norwegian knife factories (Brusletto) have some knives made in Spain now. The choice of steel and the design is pretty horrible (and obviously not the Spanish contractor's responsibility), but the workmanship is fine. I think it is Joker who has the Brusletto contract. Really good to hear there is still somewhere in Europe the knife industry isn't just a memory.

Yes, let's see how many time they can resist. Things are becoming really tough now. I didn't know about scandinavian knives made in Spain, I have to admit is out of our style. ;) I'm going to look for it now, I'm curious.

It was this one I was thinking of: http://www.brusletto.no/index.php?sprakID=eng&artikkelID=19904&ledd4=586771

As I mentioned, I think it's manufactured by Joker in Spain.
