Looks like they're one-upping Smiths by adding the 'serration sharpener' to the top side.

It also looks like the body might be cast aluminum instead of plastic.  The price is fairly competitive with the Smiths Pocket Pal too.

Nice feature to add!  :tu:

Too bad I can't bring myself to use any sharpener that includes those carbide scrapers >shiver<  :ahhh

Okay, what exactly makes that "tactical"?

Everybody knows that real "tacti-cool" knives are serrated, duh.  ;)

Nifty little sharpener for all purposes.  I still prefer the pencil shaped sharpening rods (I.e. Smiths) as I don't own any ceramic knives.

Has anyone else gotten one of these?  I found one today for $10, had to grab it.  I keep a Smiths' version in my bag for quick touch ups while at work.  It was the same price as the last Smiths' that I bought.  The aluminum sure makes it heavier, and the overall dimensions are larger.  But for bag carry, neither of these things is all that important.  I'll be using it soon I'm sure, and let you all know just how it works out.

Tom, let us know how it works out for you.  I was considering getting one, but I already have one of the Smiths ones, and I honestly don't need another, or I'd have one by now.  Put it through some paces and let us know how it does.   :tu:

Well today I had a couple of chances to put the Lansky pocket sharpener to work.  My boss carries a cheapo folder with a combo blade, he beats on it all day.  Today he finally decided that it needed some attention.  This thing was basically a serrated butter knife when he handed it to me.  The serration sharpener on the Lansky worked well.  I used the carbide rod to get rid of a chip in the edge, and the carbide and ceramic V-notches to get a decent edge.  Not a hair popper, but a good, working edge for busting boxes and such.  Today the only knife I carried was my Wenger Tradesman, and by the end of the day the small blade needed some attention.  The ceramic notch got it quite sharp quickly.  All in all not a bad little bit of kit for getting a blade back to the point where it certainly is useable, which is the point of these pocket sharpeners.  :tu:  It is also a bit more hand-filling and feels sturdier than the Smiths thanks to its length and the metal body.  This one is going to be a regular part of my bag carry each day.

I hate saying I kinda like that lansky pocket sharpener.

Look's like it would be handy since you can do a serrated blade with it.

I might give one a try for in my bag.

Don't know about one upping Smiths...they just introduced an adjustable angle pull through sharpener that looks and sounds very interesting. It's adjustable from 14 degrees to 24 degrees, with coarse, fine, and serrated settings. If anyone owns this I sure would like to know how well it works. I know one major flaw of pull throughs is the only one constant angle they offer, but it appears Smiths has addressed this.

I'll have to look into this.  The fixed angle is my biggest issue with these kinds of sharpeners too.  I was in a Bass Pro near me about a week ago, and didn't see one.
