Any ideas on the orange "coating"? Is it caracote or something else? It does interest me that they did not do the whole handle in orange. Wonder why ?

i don't know about the coating  ??? i would assume they would have learned after the REI skele's though, so id assume it would be more durable. Maybe they didn't do the inside of the handles to save money?

The coating is Cerakote and, from the folded view, seems to cover the rest of the handle.

What can I say, guys, I really liked the orange Wave so much I purchased one and took some pics. Can't comment on durability, but the coating withstood scratching with the point of a knife just fine.

I'd still use it, maybe not as a work tool but as my lighter weight carry for weekends. I say lighter because i've fallen in love with my EDC surge and i would be cool to have a little mini  me surge that doesnt make my pants fall down when i use a pocket clip. It makes a statement too  :)

There's no way of knowing. Big retailers like Cabelas will place an order for 1000....or 2000.....or 5000 pieces of an exclusive tool like this, and usually when they are gone, they are gone. :-\
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I like it but reckon it would look better if the rest of it was black oxide rather than metal finish!

I ordered one just now. Anything orange for me. Even ride an orange dirt bike. Thinking of having the Harley painted too! Haha.

Black and orange would have been nice, but who would have expected them to come out with an orange one at all? I'll take it.
