Both my name and my avatar were derrived from my dog, Scout, and his voice. With Boston accent thrown in.

He is a young, trim, muscular Beagle who was bred to be a giant among Beagles. Thats in terms of ability, not size..., although he is also a wee bit tall as Beagles go. Beagles are my favorite dog, followed by Brittany Spaniels. He's the fourth Beagle I've ever had.

When "on the hunt" his tail is always waving. Oh, and he is almost always on the hunt. When he catches a whiff of something good, like a rabbit, or squirrel, his baying (howling, a/k/a "music") becomes so thunderous, it can catch you off guard and startle you. But it becomes comical to watch, as he barks, howls and bays with his whole body, lifting his head up, almost pulling his own front paws off the ground. And he runs like a smurf.

He and I go everywhere together. Camping, kayaking, hiking. You can see him in my avatar, pictured in the back seat o my big old Chevy Blazer (Blayzah?), en route to parts unknown. And the look on his face just says it all: Adventure time!

WOW,  not quite what I expected.
I knew your name had to come from your beagle that was featured in the picture.  I assumed it was a pet that you were very fond of, but I would have bet money that the name Thundahbeagle was a play on the Thunderbolt character from the old 101 Dalmatians movie.

Very interesting.

What kind of blazer did you own?   I used to have an 89 s-10,  LOVED IT!

Hi King_gorilla

Nope, not 101 Dalmatians movie, but yes to a great pet. My current Blazer is a '93 K1500, one of the last of the big two-door Blazer. Just drove it through our blizzard we're having here. Kickass truck.

Younger, I used ACE as an e-nickname and the ACE of Clubs (which is really the ACE of Spades but the British culture thought that spade is the tool we use to dig soil and not the sword that is in reality, σπαθί gr- spatha lt).
But the last decade I just use my name initial and surname, all with k. My relatives in the US and Australia spell it Cokolis or Cockolis and Constantinos comes from the Latin Constant (same in English). But C isn’t in the Greek Alphabet so I use K and K in order to keep the same initials in Greek and Latin and this way my (medical and official) signature is understandable by foreigners.
Boring, huh?

Ok, then I'll pick up the slack and make sure you're bored;

My name is derived from the fact that I like the woods, and the wood duck is my favorite species of North American waterfowl.

Just try to be interested in that!  :D

Hiraeth is a Welsh word meaning something like homesick grieving, similar to saudade in Portugese.  Wikipedia says it's a 'longing, yearning, nostalgia, wistfulness' for Wales.  Hiraethus is the closest I could get to 'someone who misses the country and wishes they were back in Wales', but yr hiraeth might have been a better choice.

And do you also have Portuguese blood? Or have you visited there a lot? Or know a lot of folks from there? One mightn't reference a word like "suadades" out of the blue without the language being within their comfort zone.

I've been to Brasil on a number of occasions, my GF being from there originally

It all sounds like "koti-ikävä" in Finnish, meaning longing, yearning, missing, for one's home... In any case, I like it!

It’s νοσταλγία in Greek, nostalgia in Latin script, for those who didn’t guess it. Literally it means “pain for the anticipation of the day one will go back to his homeland”.
