Anyone use this wenger keychain for SAK carry?
on: September 27, 2012, 11:58:02 PM
It looks interesting, but I cant find much info on it other than ebay listings.

I like the detachable concept, but it's not clear how it works.

Those are interesting contraptions indeed. They're also known as key caddies or keychain spiders. I know there are a few of those out there including this wenger (apparently, part no 66120), the lucky line "key release" (part no 427), the EDCF keychain, etc. The little keyrings slide around the caddy in a "rail" of sorts; there is an opening at one point and a button on the back of the caddy that controls whether keyrings are allowed to slide to that position or not.

Oh so THATS how it works.  I couldnt figure from the picture how it was supposed to let you choose which item to release.

I've been looking for a slick connector solution for ages now. These things work fine, but they look like crap to me. The key thing (see what I did there? :P) to lanyard attachments on knives is a fast removability. Until somebody comes up with decent solution, it's no keyring for me.

Shouldn't the Vic quick release thing work well for that?

Yep that's more like it. But I'm looking for zero bulk.
As I said, there's nothing out there.

Yeah.. I suppose you're right. :-\

Maybe you ought to try to design something yourself? Might end up being popular if you manage to figure something out that works well.

I have used something similar to that Wenger thing before, but from a different manufacturer ... it was a big bag of poo !!

Things were becoming detached without my permission, and something (I forget what) went missing as a result. I'll not be getting another unless I hear great reports on the retention to assure me this won't happen again  :-\
