The Leatherman PST My father gave me many (late 80s) years ago. Still got it but it doesn't see any use these days. I carry a Skeletool for general edc or a Swisstool/Wave if I have a need for a little more functionality.

My very first Multitool was a SS Micra.  It was given to me by a fellow bass fisherman.  He noticed that I was using my teeth to cut my fishing line when I tied on tackle.  He had two Micras in his tackle box, and was kind enough to part with one of them.
I kept my tackle box open while I fished (bad habit), and the Micra in the top shelf of the tackle box.  I soon started to lay the Micra on the boat after I was finished using it for a tie, and eventually put it on the side of the boat, and it fell into Lake Wateree in Lugoff, SC.
I replaced that one with one I purchased from Walmart, and I noticed there was a lanyard ring on the Micra.  I used some parachord to run through the lanyard ring, and I began wearing it around my neck when I fished.  This whole experience is what introduced me to the wonderful world of Leatherman and Multitools in general.

I was dumb enough to bring it into my art class. We were doing lino cut prints and I thought I could use it. Teacher took it and told me to get it back at the end of the day, and I just never did.  lol

I used to have a dummy hand grenade in my locker in high school. If I tried that these days I'd be in Guantanamo Bay.

The first decent tool, the one that set off this craziness, was the Vic Tinker.  I'm still a big fan of it, such a nice, useful, no-nonsense tool set.  I don't have that original Tinker, though I know where it is, gifted to a friend when his POS clone snapped trying to open a bottle.  Next time I'm over his place I might have to grab it and replace it with my current one.....

23 years ago I got a Swiss Champ for my birthday... love at first sight!

First LM was a Micra about 10 years ago, and my first full size tool was a BO SOG Paratool.

Still have all three of them and think they are great :tu:

I never actually spent any time there as a kid.  I was here in NS when I had the grenade in my locker.  I'm not sure I even remember where the heck it came from come to think of it.

My first knife was a Camillus Cub Scout knife that still brings back fond memories when I think of it.  The first tool that could be called an MT was a SOG Micro Toolclip.  My mother gave it to me for Christmas after I gave her a not-so-subtle hint.  That was 1991,  the year it was introduced.  It was in my pocket daily for 10 years until I lost it to TSA because of my own fault.  After searching around while I was away on that same trip I discovered the Juice S2. After returning home I bought one and I've been carrying a Juice ever since.

The Micro Toolclip will always have a respected place in my memory in spite of its many short comings because it introduced me to MT's.  The Juice remains my favorite EDC, not because it it perfect, but because it it the most pocket friendly MT currently available.

Its an interesting coincidence that I got both the Micro Toolclip and the S2 during the year that they were introduced.

I hope that someday Leatherman, Vic or Wenger will introduce a new MT in the Juice class that will be an improvement on the Juice.

My first "loved" multitool was an original LM Wave I bought in 1998-1999.  This was my second multitool (first one was a no-name cheapie I got at an auto parts store for the grand total of $7.00 US - I still have it somewhere in the house or garage).

My parents got me a folding knife which had a folk spoon and a can opener when I was a boy scout.  I had a few cheap multi tools that I had saved my lunch money to buy, those got lost along the years. My first real good multi was about a year ago and it was leather surge.  Like many of us try I have the bug and I can't shake it ;D

My first was an original Gerber Multi-Plier I got in 1990 when I was stationed at Ft Riley after Desert Storm. That tool was the worst, it fell apart in my hands in a week or two. I was ruined for multi-tools after that one until I bought my favorite, the Leatherman PST, in 92 at Ft Stewart along with the Swiss Champ. Since then I've owned numerous LM products but never another Gerber. I know they have improved their product but I'm sold on LM and SAK. I have never modded or have ever considered it until I bought the MUT (the saw on a gun tool???), which brought me to this forum (on a google search).

My first MT ever was a SOG Paratool that I got in 95 or 96 with money from my first real job and I feel in love with SOG and the Paratool the moment I unboxed it. My second MT that kicked it in to overdrive was a SOG Powerlock that I got back in 2008 to take over for the Paratool. Still got it and will never part with it.

Mr Pinchy for me until I busted the awl trying to remove a electrical staple.

For years carried nothing until Mrs. Got me a PST knocked the cutters on a dryer vent wire traded it in and got a Super Tool.

Carried that till my love for Vic convicted me and I got a Swiss Tool.

Now some 18+ years later I carry a LM KICK.

So I sorta lied. We do have a Gerber BO Multi-Plier and I forgot about the Gerber outdoor (not sure what it's called) kit that has an axe, knife w/ a gut hook, a sharpening rod and case.

Though I had a few traditional slippies and Schrade LB7 as my first knives...I guess the first multi would have been a Boy Scout knife.  Have no idea what ever happened to it.  The next one would have been a Victorinox Spartan or Sportsman (I'd have to verify the exact config.) that was brought to me by an aunt in 1993 that she bought while in Switzerland.  The first real multi-tool style was one of the original Gerber's...can't say that I was too impressed...it seemed to pinch in all the wrong places at the worst times.  I now have several Leatherman's and have always been impressed with their quality (Rebar is next on the list).

That Vic that my aunt brought me as a souvenir really got me hooked on SAK's though...like most everybody else here, I have more than I really need.

I'm pretty sure I told this story before, but got I my first MT when I was fairly young, around 12 or 13. It was a PST my sisters found in the snow while sledding down a country lane. I "earned" from them by agreeing to go ask about it a the nearest house. They didn't know anything about it, so I got to keep it. :)
