Ganzo slipjoint ?

Seems a bit expensive, compared to the well established Rough Riders.

That looks about identical to the Buck 371, which is the Chinese-made version of the 301.  The shape of the spey blade is distinctive.  When I get home I'll post a pic of the 371.

I wonder if Ganzo is the the OEM for Buck on the 371?  Sure looks like the same knife....



Three springs, and the Buck stockmen have a different blade layout from any other stockman pattern I've handled.  The shape of the spey blade is a bit unusual too.  This sure looks the same.  If it is in fact the same knife and you can get it for the equivalent price or less than the Buck, I say go for it.  The 371 is definitely a quality slipjoint.

The Ganzo looks to be a bit shorter than the Buck.  I think the 371 has a 102cm handle while the Ganzo spec list a 8.5cm handle length, which is about the size of a Buck Trio or Buck Cadet.  The Buck 371 now uses 420J2 and believe the same steel's used for the Trio but I've not come across the steel in the Ganzo's specs; I wonder if this could be the main difference between the Bucks and the Ganzo, given that the Ganzo follows exactly the Bucks' blade arrangement.  I suspect jerseydevil's on the right track in wondering whether Ganzo is the OEM for the 371 and perhaps for the Trio as well. For me the Ganzo's just too close to the Buck 371 in its looks and the Cadet/Trio  in its size, and although I've got more stockmans than any any other pattern of knife, I don't think the Ganzo is one I'll be adding to them.

I don't have a Trio handy, but I think you're right.  The blade shape and layout, the backsprings, and now the size.... Makes sense to me.
