Five Months With My Spirit
on: March 10, 2008, 09:53:54 PM
Around five months ago, I came here asking advice about what would be a good first multitool.  I got some great input from everyone, and ended up purchasing a Victorinox Swiss Tool Spirit.

I wanted to follow up and let you all know that I love it!  The quality is fantastic, and I use it around the house for a variety of tasks.  I even used the saw to help cut out some drywall when I was mounting a flat panel tv in one of my bedrooms.

I love how it feels in my hand, and I love how the tools snap into place.

I've used the main blade, the scissors, the saw, the phillips head screwdriver, as well as the chisel (to crack open my iPod, of all things!).

I highly recommend this tool, especially to a first timer like myself.

Thanks for the input everyone!

It is a great tool. The guys on here convinced me to get one and I love it. IMHO it is, BY FAR the best multi-tool available today.

Nj, what were you doing with the iPod? I broke my 30 gb screen several times and replaced it myself! BTW, my hacked iPod touch is AMAZING!

I've got a hacked iPhone and love it.  My son loves it even more.  As I type this, he's sitting five feet from me, watching videos of garbage trucks that I put on it!

As far as the iPod goes, all of a sudden, I got a "sad mac" icon.  I did a little research, and learned that a connector inside the iPod can come lose.  But have you looked at the iPods?  They look like one solid piece they're so tight.  Not tight enough for my Spirit, though.  The chisel was strong enough and sharp enough to get in there so I could fix it.  A little marring, yes, but now my iPod works, at least.

Yeah, the inside of an iPod is very complex indeed! I have broken two iPod Video screens!

That's why I got a Sansa model- it's got a metal case so it'll take a little longer for me to break it! :P
