This SAK needs a dating
on: November 21, 2012, 06:24:06 PM
Got this one for cheap on eBay Germany and was wondering how old it is etc.

Let's get to the pics. :tool:

It's a 84mm model with the long nail file, sharpened caplifter, clip point small blade, scissors (mounted on the same side as the large blade), grooved corkscrew, no keyring, metal head tweezers, sharpened awl without hole, a PAT stamp on the can opener and a Victoria stamp on the large blade.

Sweet...! I sold one like that years ago. I think mine was 1960 or so. Wish I kept it. I think its an Alumnus. They came with & without a keyring.

No, the Alumnus has a small nail file in the blade layer.
This one is definitely a Climber (ancestor).

Hey, crackout, I have a much younger Climber that would gladly date this beauty. Actually, I think he's in love. I'll PM you my address... :D

Nice find. :tu:

The last year for the Victoria tang stamp was 1974, the small clip blade went to spear shape in 1973.  Sweet.

I've got a whole bunch of Swiss ex pats who would love to show her a good time, or some Americans if she's feeling a little brave.

Is it a Climber or a Climber (small)? The former is cool, the latter is even cooler with the nailfile.

Mid to late 1960s based on the stampings on the main blade and the can opener.

Feel free to send offers via PM. :)
I'd sell it, especially when a normal 84mm Climber gets thrown in.

jazzbass -  What is it about these stamps that places it in this date range?
