took me awhile but now understand scissors need
on: December 17, 2012, 08:55:26 PM
Maybe it's just the type of work I do where i don't find myself using scissors very much but I realized one day the importance of having at least one set of scissors on person:

Cutting fingernails!

In a settings without clippers, what other option would you have besides biting them?  That's not something i want to try with a blade!

being able to cut nails including ones that might become damaged seems like an essential thing to do in addition to the other uses for scissors.

just a personal hygiene announcement now returning to regular broadcast  :climber:

What a knife can't cut, scissors will.

I don't leave the house without a pair of scissors. Like you said you can trim your nails (which I do all the time) or you can use them for (nose hairs) or what I use them for the most is mustache and beard trimming when I am not at home.   :tu:

Ooh yeah, nails get the most attention from my scissors - hate not having at least a 58mm pair on me :)

scissors remain my most-often used implement on my MTs, and rate high up on my requirements for how I select keychain size MTs.

Recently I've switched from a SOG Crosscut, to a Vic Rambler, not because the scissors are better, because they're not, but because in most every other way, it's at least as good, and about half the weigh. And where the SOG scissors excel, at heavier cutting tasks, is a fairly rare need.

In related news, a friend of mine, who now carries my old Crosscut, found out how useful it is for nail maintenance, when he discovered during band practice that his nail was too long, interfering with playing the recorder.
