Thanks you guys, like that removable blade on the charge. Might have to pick up those scissors to keep in the car.

I do NOT dig those cutters on the Cam and Pump. They look way too likely to inadvertently snag/cut something they weren't intended to. Rail looks okay. It'd be a good alternative to buying a full on MUT, I think.

EDIT: I like all the upgrades to the Surge. Raptor... meh, not my thing.

As fars those "carabiner tools" go.  Any MT.O member, worth his/her salt, can think of a million and one uses for them.

Probably so ... but they can also think of a hundred and one tools they'd rather carry instead

+1

The revised blade exchanger is cool but I wish they kept the old head and made a new model with the  st300 head instead.

Looks like 2013 is gonna be a thin year for me and LM..
I don't shoot with anything, I already have a Surge & a ST300 so I won't need a combo and I don't "get" the Raptor.. Seems it could end up waay too unhygienic for medical use in no time..

If you look really carefully, the knife blade safety pins are present.

This means they redid and rejigged the ST300 heads (OR new ones). This good news, but bad news for me because I have to get one now...

Ya while its nice to see some minor upgrades to some MTs, there is nothing there to get my wallt to open at all.   I would have been all over an updated juice tool though. Maybe in 2014.

I have to wonder how difficult it would be to modify the existing surge blade exchanger to hold standard T-shank saw blades? Some close up photos might shed some light...

It does hold standard t shank but they rattle.  This new design will tighten the standard t shank blades

I think that the carabiner tools are cool but none of them fit my interests. I like the new surge replaceable cutters and the rapter but I have to agree with other members that I was hoping to see more and not just a bunch of changes to preexisting tools.

A company can't be innovative every year. I much prefer they take look at their catalog, see what they can improve on and take the advice and suggestions from the users. That's where the cutters on the Surge and the Blade Exchanger changes came from.

Great point! I would rather they did not have as many products but they were great, instead of a ton of terrible ones! I don't want to upset anyone but I almost feel like sometimes Gerber makes new tools instead of fixing old ones? But I cannot be very upset at this because this gives them a ton of tools! Oh well, going to get Gerber fan angry messages now!

I myself think the new one piece tools also were derived from market response. Maybe not in actual requests or user opinions but from the current popularity and sales of them.

Being a bow hunter, I can't wait to see if a Cam works for my average tuning needs out in the field.

I am however surprised there was no mention of a 30th Anniversary product. Unless that will come later in the year?

here is a video from the SHOT show floor  -

One thing that was not mentioned before is she is saying the bit driver is gone from the surge.  Looks like I wont be buying a new surge after all.  Why in the hell would they take out the bit driver - EDIT - Looking at my surge it looks like its in location of the eye glass screw driver not the full bit driver.  If they replaced the eye glass I am fine with it, if they replaced the full bit driver I am mad

I assumed there is a phillips driver on the new Surge, but I didn't see one.

I would have liked to see an evolution of the Juice lineup, instead of the shotgun, AR and bow tools which would seem to have limited application.

I would like to see LM get the OHT to the whole array of vendors, instead of the (seemingly) the 2 or 3 who have it.  I've been holding off on one until there are enough vendors with them that market forces drive the price down.

So for me this year, I may be grabbing the new Surge and an OHT.

Juli said they'd replaced the bit driver as folks kept breaking them by using them as a prytool ... so I can't see it being the eyeglass driver that's been replaced. Folk don't use that for prying ... do they .... surely

It seems it's the small bit driver that got the boot; in the LMUSA video, around 3:45, you can clearly see the large bit driver by the can opener. Check it out:

That, also, I'd think the one flathead screwdriver isn't wide enough to replace the whole bit driver...

Thanks.  Would have prefered the package opener or something else inventive over another screw driver but I am glad the eye glass got the hook over the full bit driver.  I use my bit driver with extender and bit kit all the time

That's a relief. I already thought the replaced the large bit driver. The small bit driver was wasted space  on a Surge anyway.

Still, what kind of ... would use the small bit driver as a prying tool?

Wreckless idiotic baboons who think, "sod it ... it's under warranty ... I'll send it in if it breaks anyway" and wreckless idiotic baboons who don't think anything at all ever. Unfortunately the world is full of them ... it looks like I just underestimated them  :-\

A friend of mine broke two of them while "prying" up jumpers on a motherboard.

Would you consider that abuse?
