Hehe, I was gonna link some PTR pics, but I thought I'd give him the honors.  There is also a recent thread with accompanying vid of quite a few mods from down in Mexico way.  It is knife pron I tell you!

Had to watch it again just to take it all in. Stunning workmanship.

I did note that very few of the scales had the T&T cut outs - and that's exactly the way I would do it too.
The filework - i.e workback technique is staggeringly good as is his peening skills.
Is he a knifemaker/engineer/modelmaker by trade??
Or is this simply his hobby?

Either way - Full of respect for the guy.

I nearly am ashamed to show my first set of crudely modified scales. I did Stipple them with a soldering Iron - Just a proof of concept so far.

A simple mod that I did to customize my scales (I'm now using genuine "Plus" scales).

I keep thinking about what I could do with the slot that Victorinox hasn't yet opened up...

In this photo, it's the lower scale, diagonally coming in from the left side (ends at the end of the pin and toothpick slots).  I keep thinking about a rare earth magnet, or some kind of fire starting tool, or creating a space for a fish hook/line

I've seen a few people using the unused slot for another tweezer, one that they had filed to a point for finer work.

I can't imagine anyone not finding the ballpoint pen useful once in awhile. However, most models only have the tweezers and toothpick incorporated in the scales.  I'd lose the toothpick first, because its hard to imagine anything more unhygienic in your mouth.

Oh, I can ...   but I'm the original "Sick puppy".

Actually I saw where someone had cut the end off the toothpick and used it to replace the end of a glass-headed pin (usually hard like a needle, not soft and bendy).

thanks a lot Tosh, it started as a hobby now i sell them over here (México) i hope to be able to send them out to other countries in a month or so, thanks the gods i have a lot of requests here, but all by my own it takes a lot of time to get them done.

i made wood scales on an old Aitor SAK, just for fun,.
i picked the wood myself from a birch knoll, had it for some time to dry proper,
it became interesting since the wood play when moving change form if one can say ,

  Good looking wood scales you have there. Can only imagine the lighting ray look. Is why I went with Silky Oak, for a similar effect. How did you finish he wood, did you use tung oil?

hi, thanks, i used tung based yes,..the scandi knife i used another type of birch, i like masur best, this was another birch type,..i do not consider myself very good with SAK scales, just for fun this...i make some different scandi handles just for play on the knife hobby sometimes

no show off, however here is a picture(not best quality pic) just an amature, however i like ergonomics and different woods, i can talk some on the woods and some would be ok for a SAK aswell, i like use knives still combo of wood is interesting for me,.ps Danish oil finish....

  Handsome work you have done there. My late father used to use segments of wood, aluminum, and leather. He had in fact made many fixed blade knifes with segments of thick leather stacked over the tang, then finished with thin strips of hard material near the pommel.
  Think he used the thin strips as spacers, as he would thread the pommel over the tang to screw down. So the beak of the pommel would match the guard on the hilt he's use them spacers.

  Will try and find his knives some day, as most are packed. Did run across one unfinished, that I think he was making as a replacement for one that was lifted off me by a friendly girl. He swore he was never going to make another, then found an unfinished knife when packing. Was unusual to see one in this state. He always worked quite secretively.

sound very nice the knives you mention, you should find them, the materials sounds very interesting, leather is a very nice material, not so easy to use, best to glue under good pressure and work and work compressing down, it be become very hard almost like wood,.
again you should find the knives
