Holiday in Switzerland
on: January 21, 2013, 11:28:32 AM
I decided to post this in the Swiss forum as I guessed this would be the best place for Swiss liking minds  :D

It's only at the very early stages of an idea forming in my mind and wouldn't happen until next year at the earliest but I'm thinking about a holiday to Switzerland , of course this would have to incorporate Ibach and while I understand factory tours aren't easily available it would still be nice to see the factory and visit the shop.

So is Ibach a good place for a first time overseas traveller to visit , is there much to do in the area ? any advice and photos to persuade the wife  ;) would be helpful and ideas about the best way to go from the U.K

I'm thinking of the same thing myself. Maybe in a couple of years. The wife is however not overly excitet about going to switzerland to vistit a knife factory.
Pictures of other nice things to do in The ibach area might certainly help persuading her. :tu:

Ibach is located in the middle of beautiful mountains and lakes. It's a great place to visit.

Just a few places near Ibach...

My tip for you is to travel by train. Travel at night, get some sleep, and you wake up in the morning with a stunning view of the Alps. :tu:

I've been to Switzerland a couple of times. The two high points (literally and scenically):

1. Zermatt - site of the Matterhorn and a dozen other big peaks. Take the cog railway up to the  Gornergrat glacier overlook.

2. Mount Pilatus - near Luzern. One of the longest cable car rides in the world takes you up to a stunning view. Coming down the backside of the mountain you're on the steepest cog railroad in the world.

Had a great time both times. Enjoy!

Hey guys I have not been on this forum for sometime (went to Syria to visit my grandmom and dad).

Now back on topic, I have been to Swiss 3 times now.
A place that I would really recommend going to is Interlaken, beautifull sight on the Jungfrau mountain.
If you have some money to spend I recommend paragliding in Interlaken.
Luzern is also a cool place to go especially for the lion monument and when you are there, why not pick up one of those cool spartans with the commemorative scales.

I would recommend travelling by train and using the bus when travelling in a city (daypasses are your friend here). Food and stuff is really expensive tough so keep that in mind :)

I have the same problem, maybe we have to let the wifes out of the trip, and to arrange to go all together. :D

Beautiful :tu:

Trouble is, I read panorama as paranormal being rather dyslexic today, so the pic wasn't what I was expecting at all! :D

After reading that sentence it took me about three tries to actually read panorama instead of paranormal as well..  :D
