End of an era
on: January 31, 2013, 02:59:38 AM
This is it- I'm changing my avatar to reflect my updated situation.  My new one shows my new green Jeep along with Eddie and Daisy, rather than my old yellow one with Daisy and Chinook, who is sadly no longer with us.

I've had that yellow Jeep avatar for years, and the yellow Jeep it represents will be listed for sale soon too.  I'm going to miss that old thing.

Huge thanks to Micah for making the yellow avatar for me a few years ago and for putting the green one together too!  I'm attaching the before and after avatars for reference.

Should do the rear and load it onto your GPS. I have my black suzuki sierra soft top on mine.

I have to say part of me was looking forward to test driving your yellow Jeep... guess that's not going to happen now...

I think you need to get one of these to go with the new Jeep:

It is accurate- the new one is quite large.  The front end doesn't feel that different, but I feel like a freight train with so much more behind me.  I always commented on how agile my old one was- between the short wheelbase and the fact that the wheels turned almost completely sideways turns always felt more like you were rotating in the yellow one, while you can feel the new one "swing" when you turn.  It's hard to explain really, but trust me, it's a major difference!

Also the turning radius in this one is much larger- I usually park on the street and when I leave in the morning I just make a left handed arc from my side of the street to the opposite side of the street so I'm facing the opposite way.  With the new one if I try that I end up with a detour through the park across the road!   :ahhh

I think you need to get one of these to go with the new Jeep:

I have been looking at those... :D

I rather sad to see it go after looking at it for so many years, but enough has changed to make the new one right.

It is also excellent work as ever :salute:

No, don't change the MTO theme!  We seem to put a lot of stuff on OD green (shirts, hats etc) and now that I have an OD green truck it's fitting... if we change our color scheme I'll be behind again!  :P

If i may, maybe it is time for a update? and since you changed the jeep to a new color, the page should have a new color? olive drab with a brown, it would look great with the MTO steel logo..
Yet at the same time, you could say no do to the fact that as the name of the page is MTO, not military or survival.. even though every subject is discussed on here..  just my thought, JR

That seems a bit more sensible than redesigning the site to ensure I continue to be out if fashion!

Personaly i like more the new avatar, but i will miss the old one.
The first few seconds i saw your new avatar, i was thinking that something happens to my eyes because of the color change.
I rushed to write a post, to see how the smileys look.
(too many beers that night)
