Funny "Small World" story...

Sold a few items on eBay the last couple of days and two of them went to a buyer in France.  Being a reasonably savvy eBayer I checked out his feedback which turns out to be pretty good with plenty of positives over the last couple of months.
All good... then I had to click on the actual item link in a couple of the feedback comments.. this is where it turned slightly evil. (okay, I'm just joking here)

I recognised several of the items this buyer had won as lots I had bid on. So, I clicked on the "Bids" link in the listings and, to cut a long story short, I have been outbid by this guy on SAKs (usually by 50 cents or less) on no fewer than ten occasions over the last two months. And these are just auctions where I came "second" (there are plenty more where I was an "Also Ran" but that's not what this story is about.)

These auctions ranged in final price from a few dollars to the low $30's and were spread over 5 or 6 different sellers too.
Some of the items were gear I really wanted, but I set a limit and that's top money from me. He obviously wanted them a little bit more.

Well, at least now I'm making a bit of money off him. but I'll be watching out for his bidder ID from now on...  :twak:

Don't feel too bad about that buyer beating you by only 50c, his max bids may have been much higher than what you were willing to pay, but eBay stops at the next highest increment.  I set my bid at what I am prepared to pay, if someone is willing to pay more, well good luck to them.

It's surprising what a bit of dedicated snooping on eBay feedback (via google) can turn up.  I have actually tracked feedback from a few auctions of rare MTs and worked out which buyer had won them, then asked the buyer if they wanted to sell them on to me.  No success so far, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

It's not a "problem",  I just thought it was funny that it was the one same buyer beating me out so often and now he has bought two more SAKs off ME.
I do my research, work out a price incl post that the item is worth to me and that's my limit. I've seen too many people bid a used item up to more than new price over the years (been on ebay 11 years and was on sold.com.au before ebay bought the competition out.)
In fact, right now there is a used Squirt PS4 with 6 hours to go sitting at 50c below the price another seller in selling them BNIB.

I put LOTS of lowball bids on each week (dozens of items) and I'm doing well if I pick up 2 or 3. But they will be damn good buys. Like the BNIB Wenger Stainless Steel Golf Pro for $15 + post that I snagged last week. Rec Retail price about $65.  I'll probably move that one along. I'm sure one of my golfer colleagues would enjoy it. (at a small profit of course).
