I have one and I'm quite happy with it. I bought it for the stylus, and handwriting recognition works very well for English, and good enough to be useful for Norwegian. I haven't tried other languages. The size works fine for the UI, since I end up using the pen all the time; I really don't like "finger painting". Also, it's not as bulky as the large, nice screen should imply, since it feels quite thin. The speakers have good sound quality for a phone, I generally phone in conference mode when I can since it's comfortable and I avoid heating my ear with microwaves that way. Very good web browser, since the phone has a lot of CPU horsepower, it renders complex web pages faster than the old desktop I'm using to type this.

Expensive, but nice, would be my summary.

That's great, thank you!  The big screen and processor are a big attraction.  I'm waiting for some manufacturer to introduce a 7" phone/tablet.  That would be the sweet spot for me.  I have a an iPhone now, but would like 4G/LTE also.

I've got one and it really is a brilliant tool, it's big for a phone but if you can handle the size it's excellent. The battery lasts easily all day with lots of use but one minor niggle for me and that's the background colour whilst in your email, I find it almost impossible to see in daylight. Other than that its tip top!

I have the iPhone 5 but have a few friends that have the Note. They all love theirs and a couple switched from the iPhone and told me they would't go back to an Apple product.

I think Asus just announced such a device a couple of weeks ago.   http://techcrunch.com/2013/02/25/asus-ceo-reveals-the-249-fonepad-another-tablet-you-can-talk-on/

Asus makes the Google Nexus 7 (which I own and love), and are an interesting up and coming rival to Samsung, et al.

Cool stuff in the pipeline.  :)

I may be needing a new phone soon and the Note is one of the options.  I don't like changing phones, computers etc since I use them a lot and get them set the way I like, so I usually keep one until its completely dead, at which point I go out and get a new one.

Because I have to buy a new one right away I like to keep my eye on what's available, so I can make a reasonably good decision on the spot.  Its good to hear the Note is popular.

I'd like to see a new Motorola phone though.

I was leaning towards Samsung for my next phone, but it's also good to see more options worth having for Android now :tu:

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago from a Galaxy S2 as I was considering a small tablet (ipad mini) purchase to compliment my phone. I am glad I did, as I most likely would not have carried both devices.

I barely notice the physical phone size and weight differences when compared to the S2. The battery life on this thing is amazing. I thought it would have been on par with the S2, as the battery capacity increased with the size to offset the 5.5" screen and the quad core processor. The AMOLED screen must really be far superior in consumption, as well as appearance. It isn't retina display spec but it's getting pretty close iphone(326ppi) vs samsung(267ppi).

Samsung has really tweaked the OS to take advantage of the pen interface it's not just a glorified finger (things like hover to preview galleries). Use the pen button to make lasso type screen selections and screen capture anything you like and as stated the handwriting recognition is pretty good as well.

It has been mentioned that Samsung plans an 8" tablet with phone capabilities, but they also plan a 6" display with the Note 3, this in addition to the S4 at 5" I believe everyone will have the ability to pick a phone that fits their hand  :tu:
