Anyone use a Citizen EcoDrive watch

Been thinking about getting a new watch for a while, and a Citizen model has caught my eye.

Just wondering about reliability and timekeeping.

I'm wearing a Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium and have been for the past year or two. Works great. No problems.

I have this one like Gareth's, but it stopped working one day. So I went and bought this one:

.... and then the original one started working again, so I have two :D

I've had the original for probably 10 yeaars and teh second one for about 5 years (ish).

They are good watches.

I've had one since 04 , never skipped a beat , dead nuts accurate timewise . It has a few scratches on the crystal , which are my fault . The magnifyer over the date is scratched to the point that it's nearly unreadable . Again , my fault .

I have nothing bad to say , I just prefer my Omega Seamaster Professional ( many times the price , so it's not a fair comparison .

Don't worry- it happens to all of us once you get to a certain age...

You guys are making me feel like I need a new watch.... maybe it's time to replace my Welfare Seiko Orange Monster with some kind of solar nuclear watch...

I've had one like Santos' for about 5 years now - worn it every day, in the shower, bath, etc, my job is quite physical so it's scratched a bit, but keeps excellent time - it's the best £50.00 I've ever spent.

Hope this helps. Here's a pic of mine;

it's the strap it came with - nicely made, canvas with a leather lining, but I run hot and sweaty and after a while the strap stinks! I've replaced it for a cheapy black plastic one. TMI?

I think I'm safe... I just looked at Eco drives on eBay and the ones I like are way to expensive!  I feel a bit too fancy walking around with a hundred dollar Seiko on my wrist, I don't think i could justify dropping $500 on another watch!

Yes there are cheaper ones, but they seemed awfully plain, and not even nice plain.  I think the cheapest one I saw that caught my eye was in the $350 range.   :ahhh

I love my eco drive, probably one of my favorite watches. The only thing I noticed is that the month and date were correct,  but the year was off by something like 15years (2027 was displayed instead of 2012). This in turn was throwing off the day (Mon Tues etc). Then it suddenly corrected itself about 6 months ago and has been fine ever since.

Here's a shot my actual watch, rather than the stock shot I posted before.  It's seen lots of use/abuse and hasn't let me down once.  Great watch. 8)

Does anyone have any long term experience with eco drive? I'm looking at one right now but not sure on the reliability of the rechargeable system. On solar casios I've seen estimation that battery lasts as short as 5 years, yet some claim the citizen will last 20 years with 80% capacity left (which seems too good to be true).

I've had one for about 6 years now and it still charges up quickly; certainly haven't noticed a decline in performance yet.

Mine's a Citizen BL8040 which has the Calibre 8700 works.
