Leatherman Marketing

Leatherman had sent a marketing survey via email today. They are looking for people that had purchased a rechargeable flashlight and/or headlamp. Those that are still looking/wanting do not seem to matter.

While taking the survey I made sure to note where opinions matter.    :D

:D I drop MTO bombs (links) on Leatherman's facebook page all the time. 3 more just a bit ago, and one over at Dremel's page too. :D  But since that survey goes to marketing *cough* ...

Temporary internet outage. Yes, know that they know of MTO all too well - though they do not seem to acknowledge this site as being informative source. We just have to keep reminding them MTO is a vast information collective.

Well, you certainly can't expect them to answer customer questions by sending them to an independent third party, can you?  And you certainly wouldn't want to let out that the independent third party likely has more information about your product than 99% of your own staff does.

On the other hand, they have more up to date info than we do, plus more direct information on warranty service, release dates and current practices, largely because we don't have anyone present in staff meetings or receiving internal memos.  :D

I've seen them redirecting people to MTO a couple of times though it the past. :D Don't follow that page though anymore. Much more info here and if something interesting does pop up there, someone will let us know. :tu:

Received this via email, am sure others got it too.  :D

Quote from: Leatherman Marketing

On Monday of this week we sent out a survey to all of you via the Nielsen Company, a third party conducting the survey on our behalf. We received questions from many of you about some things we thought we should clear up. First being that yes, this is a legitimate survey from Leatherman. Here are the other two questions we have been getting.

“Why did it say I wasn’t qualified, and am I still eligible for the free tool drawing?”
Yes! Everyone who answered the screening questions—even if you did not go on to fill out the full survey—has been entered into the drawing for a chance to win one of 10 Leatherman tools.

We asked a series of screening questions to filter out those who own a certain type of product. Based on the answer you gave the survey either ended, or went on to ask you more questions. The use of the words, “not qualified”, was both rude and confusing and we have asked Nielsen to re-program the survey as of this morning to change that. Of course everyone we sent it to is more than qualified to give us feedback, but we were, in this case, looking for specific product ownership.

“My email didn’t work and it kicked me out.”
In order to match each email entered to their correct data information; we have a specific email on file. If you use a different email to enter the survey (some folks have more than one), or when you originally gave it to us it had caps, or lowercase, where you have entered non-caps or non-lowercase, it will kick the user out.
Example: if you originally gave us Johndoe@sample.com when you registered your Leatherman and you now entered JOHNdoe@sample.com, it would reject that email. While we know this is not ideal, unfortunately this is the way the third-party system is programmed, and it won’t let you past this point. Please feel free to email us at customerservice@leatherman.com and put “Survey” in the subject and we will get you the exact email we are referencing so you can begin the survey questions.

Thank you all so much for your patience and questions. We know your time is valuable and we appreciate you trying to help us out. We apologize for the miscommunication and frustration this may have caused. Hopefully this helps to clear some of that up.

Have a great rest of the day.
