Hi all from down under
on: February 28, 2013, 12:03:18 AM
Just wanted to introduce myself, I've been a long time user of Leatherman, Gerber, ColdSteel, Spyderco knives and multitools.
I'm original from South Africa,  but have been living in Australia, Sydney for the last few years.

I've only just recently found MT.O as I just recently got back into collecting Leathermans again.
I can see I'm going to have to dig deep into my pockets, and find really good hiding places so the wife does not find out what I've bought...., Already spent a fortune buying stuff from Bruce909  :2tu: :waving:

All in all this looks like a great place.  :drink:

Regards
Carl

What tools and knives do you have in your collection? Also, do you have a camera? We love pictures here.

Multitools wise I've got the following:
Leatherman wave(New) x 2
Leatherman Charge ALX
Leatherman Charge TTi (with broken scissors)
Leatherman Skeletool CX (Lives in my pocket)
Leatherman Crunch
Gerber Clutch
Gerber Suspension

Knife wise I've got quite a lot, but I like my folders with Tanto tips

I'll take pic's when I get a chance.

Yip, I had a knife supplier tighten all the pivot screws on all my knives before posting them, all the knives came through except the one I wanted the most, a spyderco resilience.

Then last year I was in Canada, so I ordered more knifes along with a spyderco resilience,
got the delivery, went back to OZ and compared it with my spyderco tenacious, only then did I realise that the supplier somehow sent me a tenacious in a resilience box

Oh, just got this in the mail today.

G'day and welcome from another down-under MT enthusiast.

If you need some 5 point Torx (for older LM Waves etc) PM me and I can help you out.

Carl I sure hope you did not resort to this one mate  :o :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

A $40-$50 knife   .

Bloody customs  .
Carl I think Oz Customs is now loosening all adjustable knife pivots , I think this is the case because as from around September last year they are seizing most OHO knives that have previously been imported into Oz for many years with no problems  ??? ??? , the shonky 'test' they use (Centrifugal force/Drop test/flick knife test) has been used for MANY years it is a complete load of BS , but if a knife did not have a loose deployment it used to get through , I think they are messing with knives to get them too fail  . One Oz Ebay seller talked about their OHO Buck as being 'Fully Oz legal' as it was pinned & did not have a adjustable pivot .I stil don't know how my Gerber DPSF failed the 'test'  . It would be SUPER cool if Spyderco could make pinned pivot knives that could pass the stupid flick test  . I bet customs would just change the bloody rules though  ::). The Resilience & CF Sage used to be on my knife short list  :( :( :(
