He is hilarious but for all the wrong reasons................

I like to remember him in the early days of the mighty Sabbath - what a frontman.

And harmony is restored!

Luckily, my daughter is into Slipknot, Rammstein, My Chemical Romance, Rise Against, Anti-Flag, Green Day, Skunk Anansi, and the Sabbs. We're learning some Ozzy and Opeth guitar riffs together. 'All Aboard!'

Out of all those I only know (and like) Green Day

Paul leaves us alone for a few hours and we break his thread

We should maybe feel sorry for going off topic, but there was way too much justin beiber on the forums for my liking. The universal balance has now been restored.

On topic - I left my SAK at home when we took my daughter to see Metal Head, Occult, Cross Dressing Comedian Andrew O'Neill at the weekend. A British Bill Hicks for the new generation. I'd recommend anyone to check out his stuff on YouTube or his website. Genius.

Ahhh, the great and powerful Ozzy - what a legend!

Pop on over to the Break room for a tongue in cheek Ozzy/Justin poll.

Ozzy was great, (before he started doing that show from his house)

Reminds me of Alice Cooper in that he apperas to be much nicer and normal in real life, compared to his stage image.
Ozzy, Alice and Lemmy had such different and special voices voices..

I also remember Whitesnake, Metallica etc..

I am surprised, actually, by the fact that most of the members of these metal bands are still alive...

Thread broken in a most admirable direction - well done :salute:

Ozzy's a legend and the commercial was bloody funny

I know the poor guy has problems, but he also has a hugely successful career at exploiting them these days... that's not exactly stupid eh? ;)
Just imagine the bank roll for that commercial alone!

I think his success is down to Sharon - she seems to have kept him on the go. Also, he has a phenomenal ability to choose the right band members.

It's a real shame he's probably better known to the wider world for that stupid show and his drunken antics than his musical legacy.

She's no slow coach, that's for sure!

Yes, it is a little sad that this generation don't really know who he was before MTV etc... however, a lot of younger folks have also come to hear Sabbath as a result, and they never would have otherwise :tu:

My mum, when she was about my age, pirated some of the music that I now listen to. I find this very scary.

I think it was Van Halen, but I listen to quite a lot of 80s music. Genesis, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Triumph...

Her piracy was all done on tapes of course!
