Battery question.
on: April 08, 2013, 11:20:26 AM
I've been able to round up a Streamlight TL-2 with the Luxeon led for a very friendly price.

The light uses 2xCR123a batteries, which I don't have in rechargeable types. However I have CR123a sized rechargeable batteries which are the same size, hold two amps, BUT instead of 3 volts, they rate to 3.7 volts.

Can I use the 3.7v types with the flashlight without any damage to the flashlight itself?

I am not sure. thats kinda a big jump. if they where 3.1 or 3.2 i would go for it. but 1.4v extra might hurt it. hopefully someone will come along who knows more about them can help you out.

I wouldn't use 2 3.7 volt batteries in this light.

Streamlight's website mentions to use only primary batteries with this light.

Do not use those 3.7v batteries it will fry the driver board. Use these or similar instead

Or you can use one of those batteries with a spacer here:

And you could make your own spacer :)
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Thanks for the advices! Since then, a friend of mine replied, he uses his TL-2 with 3.6v rechageables for years now, and it works like a charm. I'll try it out too.
