I want the blunt nose for one task a Leatherman cant do.[ Maybe the Crunch?] Make a tight neat  solid two wire splice. A LM attack to twisting wire comes from the side of the wires and gets messy. Too much effort for a simple task. Maybe the blunt nose MP can solve the problem. Any fellow wire jockeys out there who can share please do. Or any DIY'ers not to leave yous guys out.

Here's a good look at the blunt nosed MP600.  The blunt nose are roughly 1/4" across the face and I think would be able to do a good twist with 1-1.5mm wire, but I doubt it would manage anything larger.  I'll take mine into work today and see if I have time to do a little experimenting. :)

Here is a simple twist as done (end on) by the gerber on 1.5mm wire.  Anything more complex than that and it's my lack of skill rather than the tool that's stopping me. :D

Holy picture size Batman!  Lets edit that down a little shall we? :-[

Thank you Gareth for the pictures. Im sold on the tool now. About a 1/4" is plenty of surface to work with. I think you are right in saying that anything larger than two 12gauge wire would be dicey, but im willing to push it and see what the MP can do. Simple joints are all im looking for out of the tool.

The replaceable wire cutters are awesome to strip wire with also. Im excited now to aquire and put the blunt nose MP600 to work.  Thanks again for the input. :salute:

No problem mate. :)  Do keep in mind that Gerber do two versions of the blunt nosed pliers, one with replaceable cutters and one without, so double check which ones you are buying.

(Image removed from quote.)I've had this Gerber Multi-plier for years as a gift from my dad. As I have just recently joined this fine community, I've found renewed interest in all things multi-tool. i hope someone can tell me more about this fine tool. Thanks.

Can I join with my new MP600 Pro Scout and MP400 Corkscrew model on the way?

I'm still practicing the Flicky motion, the Pro Scout is only about a half hour old!  :multi:

You can't go wrong with a MP600 or 400 IMO.  As to the flick, just make sure you are not squeezing the handles together at all. :)

 yup I believe I mentioned to her that it had the dubious name for a reason but she was as stoked as me to enjoy the flicky coolness and apparently Mr Pinchy doesn't roll like that.

Back in as well. While I sent my MP400 on to a new home months and months ago, I'm now the owner of an MP600, with 2 snapped off blades.

Also, it doesn't so much 'flick' currently, as sit in a ziplock bag, fully disassembled, and awaiting replacement parts. Hope it still qualifies me. :D

Nice choice Crow.  The Flik is a top MT in my opinion and is much underrated by some here. :)

I have noticed, that it really doesn't too get much appreciation.

I really like how sturdy it feels. And the shape of main blade... It is beautiful piece of art.
