Hello From Midwest USA
on: May 18, 2013, 05:16:03 PM
I have been reading this forum for a few months now and decided that it was probably time to join.

My interested in Swiss Army Knives and multitools is pretty recent.  About 18 months ago I bought a Victorinox Cadet after seeing several positive reviews.  It was my first SAK.  I loved the compact size and practicality of the knife, and it became one of my favorite knives.  I later tried a Pioneer and liked it equally well.  I frequently carry the Cadet when I wear dress slacks and the Pioneer when I wear jeans or khakis.

The alox SAKs got me interested in collecting Swiss Army Knives, and over the last few months I have started a small collection.  Many of the older alox knives are outside of my budget, but I have been able to pick up a few from the 1990's and 2000's at reasonable prices.  I have also been trying to collect all of the ones that are still produced (Farmer, Rancher, different Cadet colors, etc.)

This forum has been very beneficial in helping me learn about my new interest, as well as pointing me to some other great resources.  I'd like to thank all of those who have contributed to the great repository of information that this site contains.

Again, welcome to the forum.

Have you tried other scale materials or do you collect only ALOX?

Thanks!  To date, I have been collecting pretty much just ALOX.  However, I am interested in branching out to some of the Cellidor models as well.  I don't have as much knowledge of them yet.  I did just purchase my first Cellidor model this week.  I was looking for a used Craftsman to keep in my desk drawer at work.  I stumbled upon an eBay auction that was seconds away from ending on an older, unused Craftsman that came in the original box.  Nobody, had bid on it yet and the selling price was considerably cheaper than the cost of a new one, so I jumped on it and won.  Through SAKWiki I figured out that it was build between 1987 and 1991.  So this marks my first Cellidor model.
