It's an early 1970s Outdoorsman. Unusual knife to be sure and in what appears to be NIB condition. The sale price clearly reflects the fact that it's with a box. However, look at the picture of the end of the box and you'll see the model number: 146fmaU. That's a box for a 1960s era Champion w/ LNF, not the knife in the auction.

Actually I read the number as 1461 maU, but I admit I did not check to see if that matched. I went back and checked and I'm still not sure, but I believe you could be right.

You are right about 1 thing; I only bid on it because it included the box so maybe it's a very good thing my over-the-top bid did not win. I'll have to be more careful.

Once before I got a vintage box with the wrong number, probably a mistake made at the dealer rather that after the fact, but it certainly can happen honestly or otherwise, and maybe right from the start not only later.
